Democrats are mostly united in bringing forth articles of impeachment against President Trump and Republican lawmakers are most united against it.

BizPac Review reports a new poll from Suffolk University determined the American people are entirely split on the issue.

The survey done for USA Today asked 1,000 voters how they felt about impeachment and how it could affect the country.

Participants were asked:

A) The House of Representatives should vote to impeach President Trump.
B) The House should continue investigating Trump, but not vote to impeach him.
C) Congress should drop its investigations into President Trump and administration.

According to the report, 37 percent of people voted that the House should stop the impeachment inquiry dead in its tracks, while 36 percent of people said House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Co. should continue their attempts to reverse or otherwise change the results of the 2016 presidential election.

Twenty-two percent of the people polled backed an investigation of the president but said the House should not vote to impeach him. This figure with the 37 percent to were wholely against the entire process brings the total people against impeachment to 59 percent.

Here’s more from BizPac Review:

This being “well below what could be called a groundswell,” wrote columnist Byron York.

“That means at the moment, according to Suffolk, there is a bare majority that does not believe Trump should be impeached for the phone call — which, of course, is the heart of the Democrats’ impeachment effort,” he added.

York offered an explanation of the ongoing dog and pony show being orchestrated by Rep. Adam Schiff, D-Calif., chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, who is leading the party’s campaign to unseat a duly elected

Not that the polling is currently working in their favor.

“Just as they did after the release of the Mueller report, Democrats now hope televised hearings will convince Americans that the president must be impeached,” York wrote. “It didn’t work out before. Now, the Suffolk poll suggests Democrats should be cautious as they try again.”
