Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) allegedly misspoke when she indicated that she considers it an honor to be joining Democrat presidential hopeful Joe Biden’s 2020 ticket during a rally for the former vice president in Michigan over the weekend.

Nevertheless, her comments have sparked speculation that she may be Biden’s running mate.

On Saturday, Klobuchar told a crowd in Grand Rapids that she “couldn’t think of a better way to end my candidacy … than to join the [Biden] ticket.”

Klobuchar quickly corrected the alleged verbal slip-up, which drew cheers from supporters.

Shaking her head and laughing at her alleged mistake, Klobuchar said, “Kidding,” as the crowd chanted, “Amy! Amy!”

Amid the cheers, Klobuchar explained that what she meant to say is that she considers it an honor to be joining “the terrific, the terrific, terrific campaign of Joe Biden.”

Despite her explanation, Klobuchar’s comments have triggered speculation that she may be Biden’s VP if he were to get the Democrat party’s presidential nomination.

Klobuchar is “on the list of potential Biden picks for #2” along with several others, Axios reported on Monday.

Biden, however, has not explicitly said whom he might pick as his prospective vice president.

Ahead of the primary on Tuesday, Klobuchar has been stomping for Biden across Michigan since she dropped out of the race and endorsed him on March 2, a move that Democrats hope will unify moderate voters behind the former vice president’s 2020 bid.

After his Super Tuesday victories, Biden has had a resurgence in his quest to become the Democrat party’s presidential nominee, returning his formerly struggling bid to front-runner status.

According to the Associated Press (AP), Biden had 664 delegates to Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) 573 as of Saturday. Sanders is now Biden’s top rival for the Democrat presidential nomination.

On Tuesday, voters will head to the polls in Idaho, Mississippi, Missouri, North Dakota, Washington state, and Michigan, which has the most delegates. With a total of 352 delegates up for grabs, the election this has been dubbed “mini Super Tuesday.

Biden has floated several possibilities for his prospective vice president, including former Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams and former Deputy Attorney General Sally Yates.

Axios also noted that Sens. Kamala Harris (D-CA) and Cory Booker (D-NJ), as well as former Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick, are “high” on the list of potential Biden picks for vice president.

Biden supporters on social media have also pushed for him to choose Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) or former South Bend, IN, Mayor Pete Buttigieg as his VP, Fox News noted on Sunday.

Along with Buttigieg and Patrick, Sens. Harris and Booker have endorsed their former primary rival Biden for president.

U.S. President Donald Trump suggested that Biden likely offered to give Klobuchar and Buttigieg a spot in his administration to convince them to drop out.
