After not addressing supporters last night, Bernie Sanders spoke today in Burlington, Vermont. This speech came on the heels of primary losses yesterday in Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, and Idaho. Sanders picked up North Dakota and is very narrowly winning in Washington.

Sanders began his speech by attacking President Trump as a sexist, bigot, homophobe, xenophobe, religious bigot, blah, blah, blah. This is the same line of attack he uses in every speech. He indicated that he is committed to defeating President Trump and will do whatever it takes.

Sanders claimed that polls indicate that the American people support his progressive agenda. Bernie said that he is winning the votes of younger people, meaning people in their 20s, 30s, and 40s.

Today I say to the Democratic establishment, in order to win in the future, you need to win the voters who represent the future of our country and you must speak to the issues of concern to them. You cannot simply be satisfied by winning votes of people who are older.

Bernie asserts that his campaign is winning the ideological campaign but losing the electability debate. He said that many voters support and like his ideas but tell him they are voting for Joe Biden because they believe he is more electable.

Bernie said he is looking forward to a one on one debate with Joe Biden Sunday. He went on to say he is going to ask Joe what he will do about medical debt, student loan debt, Medicare for all, mass incarceration, wealth inequality and more.

Bernie finished by saying,

Donald Trump must be defeated, and I will do everything in my power to make that happen. On Sunday night, in the first one on one debate in this campaign, the American people will have the opportunity to see which candidate is best positioned to accomplish that goal.

I. CANNOT. WAIT!!! I cannot imagine Joe keeping up with Bernie throughout the whole two-hour debate. Might we see Joe’s electability argument crumble when he must go one on one and talk a whole lot more than he has in previous debates? How do you think Sunday’s debate will go?
