When it comes to double standards, the Democrats are second to none, and there is certainly nothing they hate more than being called out on that.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi trashed a reporter on Thursday who asked about the left’s handling of the sexual assault allegation against former Vice President Joe Biden compared to their handling of the accusations made against Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh.
Pelosi took several questions to wrap up her weekly press conference but seemingly snapped when a reporter questioned her about holding Biden to a different standard.
“As far as Biden is concerned, how do Democrats square with the idea that they are essentially standing by Biden but using a comparatively different standard with Kavanaugh,” the reporter asked. “They demanded an investigation on Mr. Kavanaugh when a very similar allegation came out toward him.”
Pelosi abruptly interrupted, “Let me just say — I respect your question and I do not need a lecture or a speech.”
“I have complete respect for the whole #MeToo movement. I have four daughters and one son, and there is a lot of excitement around the idea that women will be heard and be listened to,” Pelosi continued.
“There is also due process, and the fact that Joe Biden is Joe Biden. There has been statements from his campaign, not his campaign but his former employees who ran his offices and the rest, that there was never any record of this. There was never any record. Nobody ever came forward to say something about it apart from the principal involved.”
Pelosi then went on to say how proud she was of her endorsement of the alleged rapist, calling him “the personification of hope and optimism.”
“I have a great comfort level with the situation as I see it, with all the respect in the world for any woman who comes forward, with all the highest regard for Joe Biden. That is what I have to say about that,” Pelosi concluded, drawing the press conference to an end.
Pelosi in a separate interview with CNN also said Thursday that she was “satisfied with how [Biden] has responded,” which apparently means that she is approving of his silence on the matter as Biden himself has yet to give any sort of comment.
“Well, I have great sympathy for any women who bring forth an allegation,” Pelosi said. “I’m a big, strong supporter of the #MeToo movement. I think it has been a great — made a great contribution to our country.”
She continued: “And I do support Joe Biden. I’m satisfied with how he has responded. I know him, I was proud to endorse him on Monday, very proud to endorse him. And so, I’m satisfied with that.”
CNN Host Alisyn Camerota softly reminded Pelosi that Biden has not addressed the allegations himself, but only through his campaign.
“Should he directly, publicly address it?” Camerota asked.
“You know, it’s a matter that he has to deal with,” Pelosi said. “But I am impressed with the people who worked for him at the time saying that they absolutely never heard one iota of information about this, nobody ever brought forth a claim or had anybody else tell them about such a claim.”
She added: “But, again, we have an important election at hand, one that is, I think, one of the most important ones we had. We say that every election, but I think this is the most crucial, and I supported him because he’s a person of great values, integrity, authenticity, imagination and connection to the American people.”
Comparatively, when Christine Blasey Ford falsely accused Supreme Court Justice nominee Brett Kavanaugh, she took a vastly different approach.
“It took great courage for Dr. Christine Blasey Ford to come forward with her story,” Pelosi tweeted Sept. 18, 2018. “The American people are owed a thorough investigation of the grave & credible allegations against Brett Kavanaugh.”
Pelosi also tweeted on Sept. 26: “We must #BelieveSurvivors. I’m proud to stand with my Democratic colleagues in support of Dr. Christine Blasey Ford.”
Kavanaugh was found innocent as witnesses – including friends of Blasey Ford – verified that the story was fabricated.
For Biden on the other hand, it’s a different story as there are now 5 corroborators of different details that support Tara Reade’s allegations against him.
The situation is going to get much worse for Biden before it gets any better, as Tara Reade has now publicly stated her willingness to testify under oath against former the former Vice President.
