New York Police Department officers are retiring at an alarming rate as Democratic NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio continues to trash them – contributing to an unnerving crime spike.
In the last week, 179 NYPD officers have filed for retirement, which marks a 411% increase from 2019’s 35, according to the Hill.
Violent anti-police riots have ruled the Democrat run city and De Blasio has not only abandoned police, he has joined in on the anti-police action by slicing $1 billion from their budget and forcing the police department to disband its anti-crime unit.
The riots began the week of May 25, the day George Floyd died at the hands of a Minneapolis police officer while being arrested. Since that date, 503 NYPD officers have filed for retirement, a 75% increase from the 287 a year prior.
“While the decision to retire is a personal one and can be attributed to a range of factors, it is a troubling trend that we are closely monitoring,” NYPD Sgt. Mary Frances O’Donnell, a spokesperson for the NYPD deputy commissioner said.
O’Donnell added that when someone retired, the pension section sends a notice of who filed for retirement. What is usually a page or two at the most has become 6 pages of notices.
“Of course, cops are retiring at a higher rate,” Chris Monahan, president of the Captains Endowment Association, said. “We’ve been abandoned by the NYPD and elected officials.”
De Blasio rather than dealing with the disaster that NYC is facing should they run into a mass shortage of police officers, decided to spend the day painting the streets.
The city’s iconic Fifth Avenue was closed early Thursday to paint a “Black Lives Matter” mural on the street in front of Trump Tower.
The president criticized the decision to promote the anti-police “Black Lives Matter” organization who has expressed a desire to completely dismantle the police force and has admitted ties to Marxism.
“”This will further antagonize New York’s Finest, who LOVE New York & vividly remember the horrible BLM chant, Pigs In A Blanket, Fry ‘Em Like Bacon”. Maybe our GREAT Police, who have been neutralized and scorned by a mayor who hates & disrespects them, won’t let this symbol of hate be affixed to New York’s greatest street,” Trump tweeted last week.
De Blasio responded by, of course, accusing the president of racism despite nothing in the president’s tweet even relating to race.
“Here’s what you don’t understand: Black people BUILT 5th Ave and so much of this nation. Your “luxury” came from THEIR labor, for which they have never been justly compensated,” de Blasio said. “We are honoring them. The fact that you see it as denigrating your street is the definition of racism.”
Under President Trump, black American unemployment levels reached the lowest in history prior to the coronavirus lockdowns.
Radio host and civil rights attorney Leo Terrell said the reason he and many other black Americans plan to vote for President Donald Trump this year is because “the Democratic Party has been hijacked by black lives.”
Terrell reacted to De Blasio’s decision to paint the Black Lives Matter mural on Fifth Avenue.
“What is the effect of an image like this for the next several months?” Hemmer asked.
“I oppose that sign out there,” Terrell said. “The Black Lives Matter organization does not care about all black lives. They don’t care about police officers who are killed. They don’t care about black on black crime at all. They don’t care about school choice. It is a very extreme organization that really only cares if a police officer is involved in a killing.”
The civil rights attorney called the group’s manifesto “extremist” before building his case for the president based on the First Step Act, support for historically black colleges, and other issues.
“A lot of black Americans such as myself will be voting for Donald Trump this year because the Democratic Party has been hijacked by black lives,” Terrell insisted.
