Former Vice President Joe Biden, alongside his newly announced running mate, called for a new mandate on the American people saying, “it’s not about your rights.”

Biden demanded that all Americans wear masks for the next three months, and insisted that every governor should force people to have to wear them.

“Every single American should be wearing a mask when they are outside for the next three months at a minimum. Every governor should mandate mandatory mask wearing,” Biden said to reporters in Wilmington, Del.

“Wearing a mask will give the life of a clerk in your local store or your letter carrier, your child’s teacher. It will increase their prospects of not contracting the virus. Even though it’s uncomfortable, we’re not used to it, wearing a mask is going to get our kids back to school sooner and safer,” Biden continued. “Every American wearing a mask outdoors is going to get our businesses back and to full strength long term.”

“Let’s institute a mask mandate nationwide starting immediately and we will save lives. The estimates are we will save over 40,000 lives in the next three months if that is done,” Biden claimed.

Sen. Kamala Harris, Biden’s VP pick, then spoke and claimed that forcing mandates on Americans was the Democrat’s idea of “real leadership.”

“That’s what real leadership looks like,” Harris said after Biden’s comments on masks.

Biden took only two questions from reporters ahead of the briefing, but declined any questions after calling for the mask mandate.

Last month, the president said he is “a believer in masks” but added that he’s leaving it up to state governors to decide whether or not to implement an order requiring people to wear them in public.

Biden — who for months has repeatedly criticized the president’s handling of the coronavirus — emphasized that “it didn’t have to be this way.”

President Trump accused the Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden of attempting “to politicize a pandemic” following the mask mandate call.

During an evening press briefing, Trump told Biden to “stop playing politics with the virus.”

Trump argued that Biden’s approach was “regressive, unscientific and bad for our country.” He accused the former vice president of opposing Trump administration policies that proved effective, such as travel bans, even as he pushes for a mask mandate that fails to take into account how the pandemic was impacting specific communities.

“At every turn, Biden has been wrong about the virus, ignoring the scientific evidence and putting left-wing politics before facts,” Trump said at the briefing. “Sleepy Joe opposed both the China and Europe travel bans. He opposed the China travel ban that I instituted very early and the Europe ban I instituted quite early.”

Joe Biden has also blindly praised the response of Democrats such as New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo who forced sick patients into nursing homes and caused thousands of deaths before trying to cover it up.

While President Trump has said he is a believer in masks, he does not support a federally imposed mandate forcing masks onto American faces.

“All Americans must have their freedoms. I trust the American people and their governors very much,” Trump said. “Joe doesn’t know too much.”
