President Trump announced on Wednesday that he will be sending federal law enforcement and the National Guard into Kenosha, Wisconsin to restore “law and order” after Democrat leadership allowed for days of riots which resulted in at least 2 deaths and the destruction of countless homes and businesses.
“We will NOT stand for looting, arson, violence, and lawlessness on American streets,” the president tweeted Wednesday. “My team just got off the phone with Governor Evers who agreed to accept federal assistance. (Portland should do the same!)”
The president added: “TODAY, I will be sending federal law enforcement and the National Guard to Kenosha, WI to restore LAW and ORDER!”
The riots began following a viral video of a 29 year old black man, Jacob Blake, being shot by Kenosha police. Blake had a warrant for his arrest and attempted to resist arrest – walking towards his car while carrying a knife.
Trump campaign communications manager Tim Murtaugh called Blake’s shooting “very troubling.”
“It is apparent to anyone who’s seen video tape of the shooting … that it is a very troubling and disturbing situation,” Murtaugh said, adding that what plays out on the video tape is a “horrific scene.”
It was the incompetence of Democrat Gov. Tony Evers, however, that left Americans to fend for themselves which in one case resulted in two dead and another wounded as a teen carrying a rifle – who was there to protect the businesses from destruction – was forced to discharge his rifle in self defense as the violent mob went after him.
While the White House offered Evers federal support early on BEFORE these deaths took place – Evers declined, giving way to widespread crime to consume the city.
Murtaugh a call with reporters Thursday, said that “everyone supports the First Amendment” and the “right of people to assemble.”
“Everyone celebrates that, including the president,” Murtaugh said, noting that it is what the “foundation” of the country is built on.
“Where the president draws the line is where peaceful protesters crossed the line with outside groups like Antifa, and erupts in violence.” He added, “It doesn’t serve anyone’s purpose to cause mayhem so I think that’s a great concern.”
The riot-related violence has gotten so out of control in these Democrat areas that even their media allies are calling upon them to something about it, fearing that “it’s showing up in the polls.”
CNN anchors Chris Cuomo and Don Lemon said Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden needed to address the rioting in Wisconsin.
Cuomo said, “You have COVID and Kenosha, Don, and what’s happening in Wisconsin, it’s a Rorschach test for where this country is, and I think it probably represents the biggest threat to the Democratic cause.”
Lemon said, “You took the words right out of my mouth.”
Cuomo said, “That’s because we’re reading from the same teleprompter.”
Lemon said, “That’s all you. This is where I come in. We’ll get to that. But when you said it’s too little too late, I don’t know about that. I mean, we still have a lot of time left until election day. I do think that this —what you said was happening in Kenosha is a Rorschach test for the entire country. I think this is a blind spot for Democrats. I think Democrats are hoping this will go away, and it’s not going to go away.”
He added suggesting that Biden explain how he’ll fix race relations despite Obama failing to do so in 8 years as president, “I think maybe Joe Biden may be afraid to do it. I’m not sure. Maybe he won’t, maybe he is. He’s got to address it. He’s got to come out and talk about it. He’s got to do a speech like Barack Obama did about race. He’s got to come out and tell people that he’s going to deal with the issue of police reform in this country, and that’s what’s happening now is happening under Donald Trump’s watch.”
“When he is the president, Kamala Harris is the vice president. Then they will take care of this problem. But guess what? The rioting has to stop. Chris, as you know, and I know it’s showing up in the polling, it’s showing up in focus groups. It is the only thing right now that is sticking.”
