Former President Donald Trump showed support for his daughter-in-law, Lara Trump, by delivering an impromptu speech at her dog rescue charity. 

The event — held for the Big Dog Ranch Rescue — was held at President Trump’s private south Florida resort Mar-a-Lago. His surprise appearance and impromptu speech helped raise nearly $500,000 to “help bring abused dogs from China to the U.S.,” according to the charity’s Founder.  

Trump got political as well, teasing Lara Trump’s possible Senate run in 2022. Recent reports suggest Mrs. Trump is considering a run for Sen. Richard Burr’s seat as he will be retiring at the end of the year. 

“I hear she’s going to run for Senate. I don’t know. I think she’s going to run for Senate,” Trump told attendees, who cheered.

The charity is planning to launch a rescue mission to save over 500 abused dogs from China. Their goal is to remove them from Chinese meat markets and send them back to the U.S. via cargo plane. 

The crowed responded to Trump’s speech with a standing ovation. 

Trump’s week was jam-packed, writing and releasing several statements and policy suggestions from his Florida office.
