Google-owned YouTube is running damage control for the Biden campaign, running a “fact check” at the top of searches related to Joe Biden and fracking, which claims that the Democrat candidate does not want to “ban” the oil and gas extraction method.

Searches for “Joe Biden fracking” and “Biden fracking” currently return a prominently-featured “fact check,” positioned above the list of videos.

The first result in the search results is a clip of Biden and Trump’s exchange on fracking during the second presidential debate, in which the Democrat candidate said his administration would “transition away from the oil industry.”

“The oil industry pollutes, significantly. It has to be replaced by renewable energy over time,” said Biden.

The second result in a YouTube search for “Joe Biden fracking” is a video of Biden attempting to walk back the comments at a recent live event, insisting he is not “banning fracking.”

Biden’s comments on fracking are expected to be a major problem for Democrats in swing states like Pennsylvania and Ohio, both of which have enjoyed employment booms thanks to the fracking industry. Breitbart News fact checked Biden’s recent claims that he would not ban fracking in August, finding the claim “mostly false.

According to Breitbart’s fact check by Joel Pollak:

VERDICT: MOSTLY FALSE. Biden has promised to ban fracking — repeatedly — as has his running mate.

Biden said Monday — during a speech supposedly on violence: “I am not banning fracking. Let me say again: I am not banning fracking. No matter how many times Donald Trump lies about me.”

The problem, for Biden, is that he explicitly promised to ban fracking during the second Democratic Party presidential primary debate on July 31, 2019, in Detroit, Michigan.

President Donald Trump has begun using a video of Biden criticizing fracking at his recent campaign appearances.

Breitbart News has previously revealed that YouTube tightly controls what appears at the top of many politically charged search results.

An internal file from the company, called “youtube_controversial_query_blacklist” contained thousands of search terms, including “abortion,” “federal reserve,” “Maxine Waters,” and “David Hogg” at the time it was leaked to Breitbart News, in January 2019.

When a term is added to the blacklist, it reorders search results to favor videos a set of “verified” accounts handpicked by YouTube.

One Google source called the existence of the blacklist a “smoking gun” proving political bias.

The corporate and left-wing media completely ignored the story last month about a 24-year old mother, Jessica Whitaker, who was killed by Black Lives Matter supporters in Indianapolis, Indiana after an alleged argument over the term “All Lives Matter.”

Analysis by the nonpartisan bias-checker Ground News, which tracks coverage of news stories and assigns a “bias rating” to stories based on coverage or lack of coverage from partisan media, found that national coverage of the story came nearly exclusively from right-wing or center-right publications.

As Breitbart News reported, the story was originally reported by local media, but went largely ignored by the national press until it was picked up by the Gateway Pundit.

From Breitbart News’ story at the time:

Jessica Whitaker, a 24-year-old mother of one, was with three friends by a canal in Indianapolis in the early hours of July 5 after a 4th of July celebration when a confrontation occurred between her group and a group of Black Lives Matter supporters, allegedly over racial language.

Whitaker’s fiancee, Jose Ramirez, told local news that during a brief argument, someone in the opposing group said “Black Lives Matter,” to which one of Whitaker’s group — possibly Whitaker — responded “All Lives Matter.”

The victim’s father told the Gateway Pundit that the Black Lives Matter group brandished guns during the confrontation, prompting Ramirez to do the same.

The situation de-escalated and both groups withdrew, but Ramirez said the Black Lives Matter supporters later ambushed their group under a nearby bridge, shooting Whitaker dead.

The only left-leaning sources to cover the story were a British left-wing newspaper, the Mirror, and the New York Daily News.

Ground News’ analysis found that 78 percent of the coverage of the story came from the right.

Outlets rated right-leaning or right-wing by Ground News that covered the story include Breitbart News, The Gateway Pundit, The Blaze, Summit News, ZeroHedge, InfoWars, and NewsWars.

The story was also covered by Fox News, One America News, Newsmax, the Daily Caller, and the Daily Wire, something that has not yet been noted in Ground News’ report, and would push the percentage of coverage even further to the right.

Whistleblowers formerly employed at Google and Facebook have written an open letter to Congress urging lawmakers to take action on Big Tech bias before it’s too late.

The whistleblowers — Ryan Hartwig, former content moderator at Cognizant (a Facebook contractor), former Google employee Zach Vorhies, and former Facebook content moderator Zach McElroy — write that time is running out to tame the tech giants.

“I strongly urge members of Congress to take action whether it be through antitrust or other legislation to limit Facebook’s power to stifle political expression,” writes Hartwig.

“Just yesterday, Rep. Paul Gosar along with many others introduced legislation calling for crucial Section 230 reform,” wrote McElroy. “This is precisely the right move to make, and is all that is needed to get these big tech monsters in line. I can only be so blunt: please do something already. We’re almost out of time.”

Vorhies, meanwhile, highlighted some of the material he uncovered at Google, including the “Machine Learning fairness” program, an effort to create what Vorhies calls a “Chinese-style” system of internet censorship, that was “conveniently fast-tracked into Google’s products immediately after Donald Trump won the election.”

Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) has warned that many politicians in D.C. have been bought off by tech lobbyists.

““Here’s the message to the president: Congress will not do anything on big tech because Congress is bought off by big tech,” said Rep. Gaetz on Fox News yesterday.

In a recent interview with Breitbart News, Rep. Greg Steube (R-FL) said he would no longer accept donations from Big Tech companies following a congressional hearing with the heads of Apple, Google, Facebook and Amazon, in which the CEOs sought to excuse incidents of political censorship highlighted by Rep. Steube.

Facebook has removed a video posted by Breitbart News earlier today, which was the top-performing Facebook post in the world Monday afternoon, of a press conference in D.C. held by the group America’s Frontline Doctors and organized and sponsored by the Tea Party Patriots. The press conference featured Rep. Ralph Norman (R-SC) and frontline doctors sharing their views and opinions on coronavirus and the medical response to the pandemic. YouTube (which is owned by Google) and Twitter subsequently removed footage of the press conference as well.

The video accumulated over 17 million views during the eight hours it was hosted on Facebook, with over 185,000 concurrent viewers.

The livestream had accumulated over 17 million views by the time of its censorship by Facebook.

In terms of viral velocity, the post was beating content from many other prominent accounts on Facebook today, including Hillary Clinton, Rev. Franklin Graham, and Kim Kardashian.

Over 185,000 viewers were concurrently watching the stream when it aired live Monday afternoon.

The event, hosted by the organization America’s Frontline Doctors, a group founded by Dr. Simone Gold, a board-certified physician and attorney, and made up of medical doctors, came together to address what the group calls a “massive disinformation campaign” about the coronavirus. Norman also spoke at the event.

“If Americans continue to let so-called experts and media personalities make their decisions, the great American experiment of a Constitutional Republic with Representative Democracy, will cease,” reads the event’s information page.

The event was organized and sponsored by the Tea Party Patriots.

“We’ve removed this video for sharing false information about cures and treatments for COVID-19,” a Facebook company spokesman, Andy Stone, told Breitbart News. The company did not specify what portion of the video it ruled to be “false information,” who it consulted to make that ruling, and on what basis it was made.

Stone replied to New York Times tech columnist Kevin Roose on Twitter regarding the video:

Stone then added that the platform would direct users who had interacted with the post to information on “myths debunked by the WHO.”

Facebook’s decision to censor the livestream was quickly followed by YouTube, the Google-owned video-sharing platform. The video had over 80,000 views on YouTube prior to its removal.

Following Facebook and YouTube’s removal of the video, Twitter followed suit, removing Breitbart News’s Periscope livestream of the press conference. Jack Dorsey’s platform also then limited the Breitbart News official account, indicating that tweets containing links to multiple stories about the press conference violate the platform’s COVID-19 policies.

A black federal officer, Patrick Underwood, was shot and killed in Oakland, California, Friday night as he attempted to keep the peace amid the violent riots sweeping California and the rest of the U.S. in the wake of George Floyd’s death in Minnesota.

An official at the Department of Homeland Security confirmed to local news that the 53-year old’s death was related to the riots in Oakland. A second officer was reportedly wounded and is in critical condition.

Via ABC7:

A senior official with the Department of Homeland Security tells ABC News that the shooting is related to the protest over George Floyd’s death. A second FPS officer was wounded and is in critical condition. His identity has not yet been released.

Federal officials say the two were at the Ronald Dellums Federal Building on Clay Street when a vehicle approached just before 10 p.m. Authorities say someone inside the vehicle fired shots at the contract security officers.

Federal officials announced later Saturday afternoon that the officers were watching over the protests when the shooting occurred.

The officer’s sister confirmed Underwood’s death in a message on her Facebook page. “My brother, Dave Patrick Underwood, a federal officer, was murdered 5/29/20 in Oakland California, while on duty during the riots. This Violence Must Stop.”

Violent unrest continued across major American cities yesterday including Philadelphia, Los Angeles, Seattle, Newark, and New York among others. In Texas, a violent mob stormed the state capitol, vandalizing police vehicles and property.

Officials in Minnesota, where the riots first broke out, said they would use “contact tracing” to determine the instigators of violence. Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz (D) has ordered a full mobilization of the state’s National Guard, for the first time in the state’s history.

In Dallas, TX, graphic footage emerged on social media of a man being beaten nearly to death after he attempted to defend a storefront armed with a sword.

In Salt Lake City, UT, a man was beaten and had his car destroyed after he attempted to fend off rioters armed with a bow and arrow.

Twitter added a “fact check” label to President Donald Trump’s tweets raising widely-held concerns with mail-in voting fraud earlier today, but it has failed to apply a similar standard to repeated falsehoods by elected Democrats, the mainstream media, and Joe Biden.

Unlike Facebook, which gives itself plausible deniability for fact-checking bias by relying on “third party fact checkers” (almost all left-leaning) to pick and choose what to fact-check and what to ignore, Twitter made the decision to fact-check Trump’s tweet itself, linking to an official “moment” curated by Twitter employees and containing numerous articles from the mainstream media calling the president a liar.

In a comment to Breitbart News, Twitter said there was no way for the President even to appeal the dubious “fact-check.”

In the past day alone, Twitter let falsehoods from the mainstream media have circulated without any attempt to involve “fact checkers.” The past few days and weeks reveal even more instances where misinformation from Democrats, Biden, and the mainstream media have been allowed to circulate on the platform without a fact-check.

1. Media falsely claim that Trump went golfing on Memorial Day — not fact checked by Twitter.

Earlier today, numerous false reports circulated on Twitter from mainstream journalists incorrectly claiming that the President was out golfing on memorial day. The claim is false, and can easily be proven false with a quick search of news articles: Trump was indeed golfing this weekend, but on Memorial Day itself, he attended a ceremony at Arlington National Cemetary with Vice President Pence. Twitter nonetheless allowed this claim to go viral without any fact-checking labels applied to it, on the same day it fact-checked a perfectly valid concern from the President about voting fraud.

2. Biden, Democrats falsely claim they called for lockdowns one week before Trump — not fact checked by Twitter.

Presumptive Democrat nominee Joe Biden regularly pushes misinformation about the Chinese virus, falsely claiming that he called for a shutdown one week before Trump. There is no evidence that he made any statement of the sort — on the contrary, he is on record vocally opposing Trump’s early travel ban on China. His claim of an early call for lockdown, which took place during his now-infamous interview on The Breakfast Club, (2:34) has not been fact checked by Twitter.

3. China pushes conspiracy theory that the U.S. military created the coronavirus — not fact checked by Twitter.

Chinese propagandists are regularly allowed to flood social media platforms with misinformation, the most egregious of which is the conspiracy theory that the U.S. military created the Chinese coronavirus. In March, Chinese government spokesman Lijian Zhao tweeted that “it might be the US army who brought the epidemic to Wuhan. Beijing propagandists have also spread the false narrative, highlighted by U.S. lawmakers in a March letter to Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey, that China did everything possible to control the global spread of the virus — even though the communist government initially tried to cover up reports of the burgeoning outbreak in Wuhan, where the virus emerged.

In March, Twitter announced it would not take action against Chinese misinformation posted to the platform by official government accounts, such as those shown below. China has doubled the number of official accounts tweeting since January, and they have tweeted 90,000 times since April. Luckily for the communist country, China doesn’t face the same scrutiny on the platform as President Trump.

4. Biden claims Trump has “no comprehensive plan” for the virus or the economy — not fact checked by Twitter.

On the same day that Twitter fact-checked President Trump, Joe Biden tweeted the demonstrably false statement that President Trump has “no comprehensive plan” for the virus and economy. On the contrary, earlier this month the Trump White House released a step-by-step plan for the reopening of America, with guidelines for how and when states and businesses should reopen.

5. Biden claims he wants “any records” of Tara Reade’s sexual assault allegation against him to be released, even though he’s blocking the release of his Senate records — not fact checked by Twitter.

Joe Biden has falsely claimed that he wants “any records” of Tara Reade’s sexual assault allegation to be released, even though he has blocked the release of Senate papers from archives in the University of Delaware. The claim, repeated and disseminated by the mainstream media, has not been fact checked by Twitter.

6. Media falsely claims Trump was warned about the outbreak as early as November — not fact checked by Twitter.

Last month, ABC news ran poorly-sourced claims that the National Center for Medical Intelligence, an arm of the Pentagon, briefed the White House on the coronavirus as early as November. In response, the NCMI put out a rare statement debunking the piece (the agency doesn’t normally comment publicly on intelligence matters). Despite this, viral tweets of the article remain on Twitter, without any fact checks.

7. Kamala Harris falsely claims that 100,000 coronavirus deaths “didn’t have to happen” — not fact checked by Twitter.

Failed presidential candidate Kamala Harris claimed that 100,000 deaths from coronavirus in the U.S. “didn’t have to happen,” even though the figure is at the low end of what CDC officials predicted in March. Dr. Deborah Birx and Dr. Anthony Fauci predicted that if the U.S. took no action, deaths could have spiked to the millions. A low estimate, in the view of Dr. Birx and Dr. Fauci, was between 100,000 and 240,000 deaths, meaning that Harris’ claim that the deaths “didn’t have to happen” are in reference to the lowest fatality rate estimated by CDC officials.

8. W.H.O. claims “no evidence of human-to-human transmission of the coronavirus” — not fact checked by Twitter.

In January, the World Health Organization repeated a highly destructive piece of misinformation from Chinese investigators in Wuhan, the initial epicenter of the coronavirus outbreak. The claim, repeated in a tweet from the official WHO account, was that there was “no clear evidence” of human-to-human transmission of the virus. The claim, now obviously proven false, remains without any on Twitter without any “fact check” label from the platform.

These are, of course, only a small selection of the many lies and half-truths that Democrats, foreign governments, and the media are allowed to spread on Twitter. Other examples include the “Covingtongate” smear of MAGA-hat wearing high school kids, Rep. Adam Schiff’s wildly exaggerated Trump-Ukraine transcripts, and the Steele Dossier.

Twitter has said that it may use warnings labels “to provide additional explanations or clarifications in situations where the risks of harm associated with a Tweet are less severe but where people may still be confused or misled by the content. This will make it easier to find facts and make informed decisions about what people see on Twitter.”

Based on the facts in this article, it seems this rule is being used to delegitimize valid points from President Trump while demonstrably false statements from Democrats, the media, and Chinese propagandists are allowed to circulate unhindered.

YouTube has taken down a video of two doctors from Bakersfield, California, who held a press conference calling for the reopening of the country. According to the Google-owned video platform, the doctors “violated community guidelines.”

The doctors, Dan Erickson and Artin Massihi, operate out of an urgent care clinic in Bakersfield. Citing fatality statistics in California, the doctors argued that the Chinese virus has proven less deadly than anticipated.

“We have 39.5 million people, if we just take a basic calculation and extrapolate that out, that equates to about 4.7 million cases throughout the state of California,” said Dr. Erickson. “Which means this thing is widespread, that’s the good news. We’ve seen 1,227 deaths in the state of California with a possible incidents or prevalence of 4.7 million. That means you have a 0.03 chance of dying from COVID-19 in the state of California.”

The doctors made their case in a 50-minute press conference, which was uploaded to YouTube. The Google-owned video platform has since taken the video down, replacing it with a message stating that the content violated its community guidelines.

23ABC News Bakersfield, the news station that uploaded the video, confirmed that the first part of the press conference is no longer available on YouTube. The news station said it has submitted an appeal to YouTube but has yet to hear back.

In the video, which has been reuploaded to other channels as well as to other video-hosting platforms, Dr. Erickson said that the focus on the coronavirus was drawing medical resources away from other urgent problems.

The Second part of the briefing is still available on the 23ABC News Bakerfield account:

“When I talk to E.R. physicians around the country, what’s happening? Well because COVID has become the focus, people with heart disease, people with cancer, hypertension, and various things that are critical are choosing not to come in based on fear. So what that’s doing is forcing the healthcare system to focus on COVID and not focus on a myriad of other things that are critical.”

The doctors’ comments have been criticized by the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) and the American Academy of Emergency Medicine (AAEM).

“The American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) and the American Academy of Emergency Medicine (AAEM) jointly and emphatically condemn the recent opinions released by Dr. Daniel Erickson and Dr. Artin Massihi. These reckless and untested musings do not speak for medical societies and are inconsistent with current science and epidemiology regarding COVID-19.”
