China hasn’t been the world’s favorite place lately. Not only did it release a virus that claimed the lives of hundreds of thousands across the globe, but it’s also been attempting to subjugate Hong Kong and Taiwan, two places that don’t belong to the country while claiming both are China’s territory.

On the subject of Taiwan, in fact, China is very adamant that it belongs to them and is tired of the United States considering Taiwan its own independent country. That’s why the spokesperson for the Foreign Ministry of Communist China, Hua Chunying, warned the United States to stop challenging China’s claim during a tweet on Sunday.

“We urge the #US side to fully appreciate the great sensitivity of the Taiwan question. We advise the US side to ditch its illusions and political calculations. We ask the US side not to make any attempt to challenge China’s red line,” tweeted Hua.

Texas Senator Ted Cruz, being Texan, didn’t appreciate communists from another nation giving the United States warnings about questioning its claims on something. Questioning authority is what we do here. So, Cruz decided to fire back to the Chinese official with a warning of his own.

“We urge the Chinese govt to fully appreciate the great sensitivity of 343k people dead because CCP lied & covered up a damn global pandemic. We advise CCP to ditch its illusions & political calculations. We ask CCP not to make any attempt to hide behind a fake red line of lies,” tweeted Cruz.

Cruz himself has always supported the idea of Taiwan being an independent nation from China and even introduced the Taiwan Symbols of Sovereignty (Taiwan SOS) Act back in February, which would effectively kill the Obama-era ban on symbols of Taiwanese sovereignty.

“As China grows more hostile toward Taiwan and our friends in the region, it’s critically important for the United States and the rest of the world to stand unshakably with Taiwan. Allowing Taiwanese officials to proudly display their flag while in the United States is a step in the right direction,” Cruz said in the statement.

Cruz’s willingness to challenge the CCP wasn’t a solo act. It would appear many other Americans decided to show up to give the spokesperson a figurative middle finger as well.

Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer must be feeling the heat from her own draconian methods of dealing with the Wuhan coronavirus outbreak as she’s now trying to explain why it’s not so bad and not doing a very good job of it.

Appearing on “Today,” Whitmer explained that her orders to stop people from doing everything from traveling to their own properties in different parts of the state to planting gardens within the bound of their own home won’t be that big of a deal because…

…wait for it…

…there’s snow on the ground.

Apparently snow justifies the suspension of Michiganders to do what they want on their own properties. I had no idea.

“So we just had snow. I’ve got snow on the ground in Lancing. We’re expecting 30 inches in the upper peninsula,” said Whitmer. “The fact that we’re cracking down on people traveling between homes or planting, or landscaping or golfing, really for a couple more weeks, isn’t going to meaningfully impact people’s ability to do it because the snow will do that in and of itself.

People who are more than used to seeing snow begged to differ.

What’s more, Whitmer seems to be completely off on her predictions about how long the snow will be around.

Whitmer is clearly trying to sell the idea that her tyrannical hold on Michigan is no big deal but it seems that it definitely is. The petition to initiate a recall election for Whitmer that I reported about on Monday is now approaching 250,000 signatures with more being added by the second.

Petition or not, it’s pretty obvious that Whitmer is feeling the heat from her own Orwellianism. This shallow attempt at justification either means she has no excuse except for shallow reasoning or she doesn’t care enough to come up with a better reason for stopping people from doing work in their own homes.

If she was being considered a candidate for Joe Biden’s running-mate, then I’m pretty sure the powers that be in the DNC are starting to look elsewhere. This is just wackadoo.

Democrats will never waste an opportunity to swoop in when you’re at your lowest and take advantage of the situation to push an agenda. The “never let a crisis go to waste” motto is on page one of the Democrat party playbook, so it shouldn’t surprise you that Democrats are gleefully talking about social engineering and restructuring the nation while we’re suffering from a pandemic.

Everyone from New York Governor Andrew Cuomo to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is ready and raring, not to get the economy back up and running and get people back to their jobs, but to invest in tried and failed ventures like the green energy market and adjusting Medicare so it’s even more burdened.

I could tell you about it, or I could just show you.

Grabien founder Tom Elliot put together a supercut of Democrats, each talking about how they’re going to take this opportunity to push the party’s agenda forward under the guise that they’re making things better. This includes throwing in a couple of Green New Deal agenda points.

As I’ve written many, many…many times here on RedState, Democrats aren’t so much concerned with the people as they are their plans. They, like many on the left, have been seduced by the idea of Utopia and the false promise that humans can be at their best if they just follow the rules these leaders implement for them.

The problem is that humans are fallible and each one of us is more different from the last. Utopia is perfection, and as fallible creatures, this is not achievable by our hands. Conservatives tend to understand this point and that all we can do is the best we can. We’ve found through trial and error that the best we can do revolves around the idea of freedom, be it in our markets or in our general lives.

Democrats either can’t or won’t see this and as a result, believe that if the right agenda (theirs) is passed then humanity will be on the right track. This is stupid. Forcing green energy on the world won’t make the planet healthier, it’ll just slow down progress into technologies that actually would help. The current state of green energy is highly damaging to the planet itself, disrupting and killing wildlife and plantlife in droves.

What’s more, the socialist healthcare systems that the Democrats are constantly pushing for are deadly messes that cost more money for lower grades of healthcare.

The information is there. Results aren’t hard to come by. So why do the Democrats push for it?

It almost makes you wonder if what Democrats are seeking isn’t Utopia, but being able to feel good about themselves for pushing something that they have a good feeling about.

Either way, they aren’t concerned with you. Vote accordingly.

The state of Texas is resuming its temporary ban on abortions after a district court judge put up a temporary restraining order against the state, allowing abortions to proceed as normal.

Last month, Texas Governor Greg Abbott banned abortions from Texas during the duration of the Wuhan Coronavirus pandemic after ruling that abortions were not essential, but elective procedures. The Governor argued that since abortions were a “choice,” as its advocates have always presented it, then the procedure was elective and thus was unnecessarily taking up medical supplies that could be used during this pandemic.

A federal judge named Lee Yeakel stepped in and lifted the restrictions, arguing that he “will not speculate on whether the Supreme Court included a silent ‘except-in-a-national-emergency-clause’ on its previous work on the abortion issue.” Yeakel placed a restraining order meant to last through April 13 while legal arguments played out.

However, Yeakel’s ruling has now been overruled. On Monday, the U.S. Fifth Circuit court of appeals has granted temporary enforcement of the ban, pending an appeal.

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton issued a statement thanking the court:

I thank the court for their immediate and careful attention to the health and safety needs of Texans suffering from the spread of COVID-19. The temporary stay ordered this afternoon justly prioritizes supplies and personal protective equipment for the medical professionals in need. The Governor’s Order temporarily halting unnecessary medical procedures, including abortion, applies to all health care facilities and professionals equally as Texans come together to combat this medical crisis.

“For years, abortion has been touted as a “choice” by the same groups now attempting to claim that it is an essential procedure,” Paxton said. “All Texans must work together to stop the spread of COVID-19. My office will continue to defend Governor Abbott’s Order to ensure that supplies and personal protective gear reach the hardworking medical professionals who need it the most during this health crisis.”

Planned Parenthood was naturally salty about the move and vowed that the fight wasn’t over yet.

While they are correct about the fight not being over, it’s difficult to see how abortion industries can maintain business during a time when elective medical procedures are being halted. Abortion is definitely not a necessity and is, as its advocates have constantly reminded us, a choice they make. As it is a choice, it is not an essential service and thus any medical supplies should be made available to healthcare professionals who need them for services that need to performed now.

Earlier, Streiff wrote on how the Democrats are planning to put together a “9/11-style” commission in an effort to once again drag President Donald Trump through the dirt in hopes that when he comes out the other side there will be nothing but an unelectable, nationally hated mess.

Streiff quotes NBC News, which reported that the commission’s purpose is essentially to find out where the Trump administration screwed the pooch in its response against the global pandemic that was created by China, a country that Democrats and the leftist media have gotten into the habit of defending:

The review would focus on lessons learned about the government’s preparedness and what the administration could have handled better, they said, adding that the goal would be to come up with a better plan to handle a pandemic in the future.

A wholesale examination of the administration’s response could gain traction with the passing of a gruesome milestone Tuesday, when the number of deaths in the U.S. from the coronavirus surpassed the number of people who were killed on 9/11.

The quote features a very interesting paragraph that got my attention about how this commission is a thing that is set to happen in the future after the pandemic has abated:

But the formation of any commission, or possible congressional investigations, wouldn’t happen until after the country is through the crisis, the people familiar with the discussions said. Some lawmakers have suggested putting off any investigation until after November’s presidential election, they said.

As Streiff noted, the chances of this commission being formed are slim. There has to be bipartisan agreement on it, which includes the Senate and the Trump administration. Seeing as how this is going to be put together by Rep. Adam Schiff, the same man who wasted the nation’s time and money wheeling out witnesses during the impeachment hearings that gave us absolutely nothing in terms of wrongdoing by Trump, it’s unlikely that either of these bodies will trust the commission to be fair.

That said, I’d like to point out something else.

Trump is clearly chomping at the bit to get our economy back on track and for obvious reasons. For one, he wants the American people to not fall into poverty, he wants Americans prosperous, and our futures to be secured. Secondly, the economy is his biggest selling point. It’s clear that Trump will be judged by his ability to get our economy back on track after this pandemic has put the global economy into freefall, and as such, he wants to put his best foot forward before 2020.

Both of these are absolute benefits to America as Trump is clearly wanting us to be a prosperous nation and giving us reason to keep him in office means that he’s succeeding in doing so.

Meanwhile, Democrats don’t seem concerned about our prosperity. What they care about is finding new ways to hurt Trump. Even as we’re currently cheek-deep in this virus, Democrats are putting their time into figuring out how they can come at Orange Man.

Surprised? You shouldn’t be. This is the same party that recently halted a bipartisan bill that was supposed to get financial support to the American people because House Speaker Nancy Pelosi wanted to throw in some last-minute demands such as forcing diversity on corporate boards and inserting aspects of the Green New Deal.

I write a lot about how the Democrats aren’t really focused on you, but themselves, and of all the ways that I’ve tried to drive this point home, this may be one of the top ones. We’re a nation suffering a pandemic while our country is in economic freefall and all the Democrats want to do is screw Trump.

Vote accordingly.

Before the vote passed, Republican Florida Rep. Matt Gaetz was on Sean Hannity’s show on Fox News and was ripping the Democrat party to shreds for everything from their pick for the Democratic primary to the ridiculous things we have in the new stimulus package.

Gaetz began by contrasting President Donald Trump with former VP and current choice for the Democrats to lead the country despite hardly knowing what’s going on half the time, Joe Biden.

“While President Trump leads our country with conviction you see Joe Biden seizing up like he’s the Tin Man when his teleprompter freezes,” said Gaetz. “We don’t need the Mr. Magoo presidency that Joe Biden promises.

Gaetz then turned his attention to the new stimulus package where Democrats had put in hundreds of millions of dollars of funding for refugees and migrants.

“And as to Governor Huckabee’s points about Democrats trying to seize power, as Senator Graham works to fix these unemployment problems you’ve been talking about in this bill, I sure hope he’ll try to take out the $350 million for migrant and resettlement for refugees in our country.”

“Why in the world would we have $350 million for migrants and refugees before we restore the economic condition of every American in our country?” continued Gaetz. “And, oh, by the way, Sean, no money for border patrol and ICE in this bill, but you see the Democrats – just as Governor Huckabee said – doing everything they can to social engineer through a crisis.”

Democrats have been attempting to push items in the stimulus bill that has absolutely nothing to do with helping Americans get back on their feet or stay afloat during this pandemic. Democrats have pushed for nonsensical items such as diversity on corporate boards and tax credits for wind and solar companies.

Huckabee’s suggestion that Democrats are trying to utilize this crisis to rearrange America is spot on the money.

The bill did pass with the migrant refugee funding, as well as $35 million set aside for the Kennedy performing arts center, though no one is exactly sure why that was necessary.

The bill will now go to the House to be finalized and voted on.

If there’s one thing President Donald Trump has proven is that when it comes to our economy, he knows what he’s doing. We’ve never seen bigger growth and betters speeds than under his leadership.

This has apparently generated so much confidence in the American people that even as our economy is under freefall due to the Wuhan virus, Trump’s economic approval numbers are remaining unchanged.

A Morning Consult poll shows that confidence in Trump’s handling of the economy is still high:

Last week’s turmoil in the stock market and growing concerns about the long-term impact of the coronavirus pandemic on the U.S. economy have not shaken voters’ views on President Donald Trump’s chief selling point as he faces re-election this fall.

A new Morning Consult/Politico poll, conducted March 13-16, found that half of voters approve of Trump’s handling of the economy, statistically similar to findings from polls conducted in the first two months of the year. The figure exceeds his overall approval rating by 7 percentage points and is driven by positive sentiment among nearly 9 in 10 Republicans and a plurality of independents.

As we continue to fall, this number may very likely change. However, the real test will come when the pandemic ends and the quarantine is over. The country may be faced with the massive task of digging its way out of a recession, however, it’s likely that Trump’s policies and economic leadership will have us out and back on top faster than the previous recession which was seen over by former President Barack Obama.

Should the recovery prove quick and effective, then it can only strengthen Trump’s case going into 2020. Since Trump’s economy is his greatest strength and likely his chief ticket to reelection, a comeback from the lowest of lows would pretty much guarantee a win against Biden.
