‘It really jeopardized the safety of law enforcement officers…’

Mark Morgan, acting director of Immigration and Customs Enforcement, revealed Saturday that the ICE raids planned for Sunday morning were cancelled because of government leaks and the media’s subsequent reporting on key operation details.

“The media got ahold of some operational specifics, and they reported it. It’s just egregious, and it puts the lives of the officers and agents at risk,” Morgan told Fox News host Jeanine Pirro.

“The men and women at ICE are true American heroes. The president recognized that. He postponed it to protect them,” Morgan explained.

President Donald Trump announced Saturday afternoon the ICE operation would be delayed two weeks, citing requests from Democrats. It has since been reported that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) called him personally to request the government not move forward with the raids.

The operation was originally slated to begin in the pre-dawn hours on Sunday, targeting thousands of illegal immigrants across 10 U.S. cities.

Who leaked operation details?

According to the Washington Examiner, government officials believe acting Homeland Security Secretary Kevin McAleenan is behind the leaks.

Five government officials who spoke with the Examiner said McAleenan has been petitioning against the operation for months.

From the Examiner:

The sources said only a small number of people in the White House, ICE, and DHS were even aware of the plan’s details, including which cities, the date and time, and who would be targeted.

Two officials said the acting secretary, who was promoted internally in April, had fought for months during closed-door discussions with White House officials, the former acting ICE Director Ronald Vitiello, and the new acting ICE Director Mark Morgan against the plan, which they noted was similar to one the Obama administration carried out in 2015.

Further, according to the Examiner, McAleenan traveled to the border on a government plane last Wednesday with the Washington Post reporter who broke the news about the ICE operation.

“It really jeopardized the safety of law enforcement officers — that’s the part that’s really detrimental,” one official told the Examiner.

‘A very great friend of the State of Israel’

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu unveiled Sunday a new Jewish settlement in the internationally contested Golan Heights named after President Donald Trump.

The settlement is called “Trump Heights” — or “Ramat Heights” in Hebrew — and essentially renames an existing settlement in Kela Alon that was built decades ago, the Wall Street Journal reported. Fewer than a dozen Israeli citizens live in the settlement, which sits just 12 miles from the Syrian border.

Netanyahu revealed the settlement during a meeting of his cabinet.

“We are going to do two things — establish a new community on the Golan Heights, something that has not been done for many years. This is an act of Zionism and it is paramount,” he said, according to the New York Post. “The second thing is to honor our friend, a very great friend of the State of Israel — President Donald Trump, who recently recognized Israel’s sovereignty over the Golan Heights.”

David Friedman, the U.S. ambassador to Israel, was also at the event. He said, “I can’t think of a more appropriate and a more beautiful birthday present.”

Netanyahu’s announcement came just months after Trump gifted the Israeli leader with a major political win: when he recognized Israeli’s sovereignty over the Golan Heights.

The move was internationally condemned, and did not generate any worldwide support. The international community maintains that Israel has illegal control over the Golan despite winning control over the the majority of the land during the Six-Day War in 1967. Israel officially annexed Golan in 1981.

After the settlement was unveiled, Trump thanked Netanyahu for the “great honor.”

‘Pure Trump’

Stephanie Grisham, the press secretary and communications director for first lady Melania Trump, is emerging as one of the top contenders to replace outgoing White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders.

Grisham joined the Trump campaign during its initial days in 2015 and has remained steadfastly loyal to the Trump family since, rising to become one of the most powerful White House staffers. She was even recently described as Melania Trump’s “enforcer.”

Multiple sources close to the Trump family revealed to The Daily Wire why Grisham is likely the top candidate to replace Sanders.

One White House source told The Daily Wire that Grisham “has proven herself to be a stone-cold killer” who is a “risk-free move for the administration in the run-up to perhaps the most important election in American history.”

“Grisham is pure Trump,” the source told the news outlet. “She holds down the East Wing with ease and has no loyalties to any faction within the Republican Party. Members of the first family love her and know that she is fiercely dedicated and loyal.”

Another source, who was described as being close to President Donald Trump, told The Daily Wire of Grisham:

Stephanie Grisham is a favorite of Trump loyalists, many in the national press corps, and most important, the Trump family. The First Lady loves Stephanie’s tenacity and loyalty, and President Trump has remarked that he respects Stephanie’s ability to stay cool under pressure and manage the toughest of news cycles. Stephanie might not be the first name that comes to mind for this role, but she’s the one person inside or outside the building who everyone nods their head and says, “She’d be great.”

A third source, a former senior White House officials, said Grisham “is unquestionably loyal and has the respect of the press corps. She’d be a total home run as press secretary — both for the President and his supporters.”

Aside from being known as an extremely loyal staffer, Grisham wields more influence than most other White House staffers.

As the Washington Post described last December, Grisham was singlehandedly responsible for the firing of a national security official who clashed with Melania’s team ahead of her first solo foreign trip last fall. After then-White House chief of staff John Kelly did not respond to the incident, Grisham spoke with Melania, who spoke with the president privately. Days later, the national security official had been fired.

Experts told The Post that the chain of events was unprecedented in White House history.

But Grisham has also earned the respect of the press corps, often advocating on their behalf and going out of her way to serve reporters, according to The Post.

What did Trump say?

Speaking on “Fox and Friends” Friday, Trump was succinct in his praise of Grisham.

“Stephanie is terrific,” Trump said.

‘Oh God, we praise you as the one universal king over all. You are our leader and our lord and we worship you’

President Donald Trump made a surprise visit to McLean Bible Church outside the nation’s capital on Sunday, where he met with lead pastor David Platt following the tragic shooting in Virginia Beach last Friday.

What happened?

Video from Trump’s visit shows the president onstage at the church. With hat in hand, Trump bows his head while Platt prays.

Here are some of the highlights from Platt’s prayer:

  • “Oh God, we praise you as the one universal king over all. You are our leader and our lord and we worship you. There is one God and one savior — and it’s you, your name is Jesus.”
  • “We stand right now on behalf of our president and we pray for your grace and your mercy and your wisdom upon him. And God we play that he would know how much you love him — so much that you sent Jesus to die for his sins.”
  • “Lord, we pray, we pray that you would give him all the grace he needs…”
  • “Wisdom, the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. Fools despise wisdom and instruction. Please, O God, give him wisdom and help him to lead our country.”

After Platt finished his lengthy prayer, his congregation erupted in applause and cheers. The president shook Platt’s hand, thanked him, and thanked the church before exiting the stage.

Trump, however, did not make any remarks.

“President Donald J. Trump is visiting McLean Bible Church in Vienna, VA, to visit with the Pastor and pray for the victims and community of Virginia Beach,” the White House said in a statement, according to the Washington Examiner.

Here is Platt’s full prayer:

Oh God, we praise you as the one universal king over all. You are our leader and our lord and we worship you. There is one God and one savior — and it’s you, your name is Jesus. And we exalt you Jesus. And we know we need your mercy. We need your grace. We need your help, we need your wisdom in our country.

We stand right now on behalf of our president and we pray for your grace and your mercy and your wisdom upon him. And God we play that he would know how much you love him — so much that you sent Jesus to die for his sins, our sins. So we pray that he would look to you and that he would trust in you, that he would lean on you, that he would govern and make decisions in ways that are good for justice and good for righteousness and good for equity, every good path.

Lord, we pray, we pray that you would give him all the grace he needs in ways that we just saw in 1 Timothy 2 that lead to peaceful and quiet lives, godly and dignified in every way. God we pray for your blessing in that way upon his family. We pray that you would give them strength, we pray that you would give them clarity, wisdom — wisdom, the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. Fools despise wisdom and instruction. Please, O God, give him wisdom and help him to lead our country.

Alongside other leaders, we pray today for leaders in Congress, we pray for leaders in courts, we pray for leaders at national and state levels. Please, O God, help us to look to you, help us to trust in your word, help us to seek your wisdom and live in ways that reflect your love and your grace and your righteousness and your justice.

We pray for your blessings on our president toward that end. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.

Another federal judge rules against Trump

A federal judge issued a preliminary injunction Friday temporarily blocking the Trump administration’s plan to fund construction of border wall along the southern U.S.-Mexico border.

U.S. District Court Judge Haywood Gilliam — who was appointed to the bench by former President Barack Obama — stopped President Donald Trump from using $1 billion in reallocated Department of Defense funds for border wall construction, where were approved in March.

“The case is not about whether the challenged border barrier construction plan is wise or unwise. It is not about whether the plan is the right or wrong policy response to existing conditions at the southern border of the United States,” Haywood wrote.

“Instead, this case presents strictly legal questions regarding whether the proposed plan for funding border barrier construction exceeds the Executive Branch’s lawful authority under the Constitution and a number of statutes duly enacted by Congress,” he explained.

However, as Politico reported, Gilliam’s order only limits construction in certain regions of Texas and Arizona, and does not prevent the administration from tapping other funding sources to continue construction in other border sectors.

The ACLU, which filed the suit on behalf of the Sierra Club and the Southern Border Communities Coalition, celebrated Gilliam’s ruling.

“This order is a win for our system of checks and balances, the rule of law, and border communities. The court blocked all the wall projects currently slated for immediate construction. If the administration begins illegally diverting additional military funds, we’ll be back in court to block that as well,” Dror Ladin, an ACLU attorney, said.

‘The President’s words weigh a ton, and his hateful and inflammatory rhetoric creates real danger’

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi issued a new demand of President Donald Trump on Sunday amid ongoing controversy over Minnesota Democratic Rep. Ilhan Omar’s refusal to identify the 9/11 attackers as terrorists.

Instead, at a CAIR fundraiser last month, Omar referred to the 9/11 perpetrators as “some people” who “did something.”

In response, Trump tweeted a video Friday highlighting Omar’s controversial comments. Spliced in between her words were dramatic scenes from 9/11. Democrats later accused the president of inciting violence against Omar.

What did Pelosi say?

In a short statement released Sunday afternoon, Pelosi demanded the president remove the video, which he has since “pinned” to the top of his Twitter account.

“The President’s words weigh a ton, and his hateful and inflammatory rhetoric creates real danger. President Trump must take down his disrespectful and dangerous video,” Pelosi said in a statement.

“Following the President’s tweet, I spoke with the Sergeant-at-Arms to ensure that Capitol Police are conducting a security assessment to safeguard Congresswoman Omar, her family and her staff,” she said. “They will continue to monitor and address the threats she faces.”

Pelosi’s statement comes after Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.), who is one of Omar’s closest progressive allies in Congress, criticized Democratic leadership for seemingly exploiting Muslims.

Omar and Tlaib are the first two Muslim women ever elected to Congress. They were elected last year.
