Democrats in the House are eyeing a move to censure President Trump as an alternative to impeachment.

As reported by

House Democrats are eyeing a move to censure President Trump as a possible alternative to impeaching a president they have accused of gross wrongdoing while in office.

A censure resolution – essentially a public reprimand – lacks the teeth of impeachment’s intrinsic threat to remove a sitting president. But supporters say it would send a clear and immediate message to voters that Democrats are taking seriously their constitutional responsibility to be a check on executive misconduct.

The censure consideration comes at a time when Democrats are moving forward with other congressional tools to go after Trump administration officials. The House is expected to vote next week to hold Attorney General William Barr in contempt for declining to comply with a subpoena for special counsel Robert Mueller’s full report and related evidence.

Rep. Ro Khanna (D-Calif.), who’s calling for immediate censure of Trump, said it would send a warning to future administrations that Congress won’t sit idle in the face of presidential malfeasance.

And unlike impeachment, which requires overwhelming Senate support, the Democratic-controlled House could censure Trump without a single Republican on board.

“The advantage of that is it can be done with the House,” he said. “We can hold the president accountable and say that his actions are unethical, and he’s engaged in blatant misconduct and that there can be some accountability for future presidents.”

Does anybody else see a problem here? We have a president of a foreign nation that his people have a right to be in our nation.

From Breitbart:

Poor people have a right to migrate to the United States, and migrants should not be stopped by force, according to a letter from Mexico’s president to U.S. President Donald Trump.

President López Obrador’s May 30 letter, provided by the Wall Street Journal, claimed a migrant’s “right for justice,” saying:

President Trump. Social problems are not resolved by taxes or coercive measures. How do you transform the country of fraternity for the world’s migrants into a ghetto, a closed space, where migrants are stigmatized, mistreated, persecuted, expelled and the right for justice is canceled to those who tirelessly seek to live free of misery?

The letter also suggested that poor Mexicans have a right to migrate into the United States: “It is worth remembering that, within a short period of time, Mexicans will not need to migrate into the United States and that migration will become optional, not compulsory.”

Welp folks, you can thank the Democrats for ruining competitive sports for your daughters.

Democrats have voted 236 – 183 to allow boys to compete in Girl Sports.

From Daily Caller:

The Democratically controlled House of Representatives voted Friday 236-173 in favor of the Equality Act, which would require schools to include male athletes who identify as transgender girls on female sports teams.

Eight Republicans crossed party lines to vote for the bill, which had unanimous Democratic support.

The bill amends the Civil Rights Act of 1964 to make “sexual orientation and gender identity” protected characteristics under federal anti-discrimination law.

Among other things, that would force public schools to expand female athletic teams to include biological males who identify as transgender girls.

Republican Florida Rep. Greg Steube introduced a last-minute amendment to the bill that would have preserved Title IX’s protections of female athletic teams, but Democrats rejected it.

Thousands are reportedly calling for the resignation of Pennsylvania State Representative Brian Sims following his recent incident outside of a planned parenthood clinic where he harassed protesters.

As reported by

The outcry surrounding Pennsylvania state Representative Brian Sims’ haranguing of anti-abortion rights protesters outside a Planned Parenthood clinic continues as thousands call for him to resign and a “Pro-Life Rally Against Bullying” event is organized in response.

Sims was condemned for two videos he posted on social media showing him confronting protesters outside a Center City Planned Parenthood facility in Philadelphia, which critics said amounted to harassment and intimidation.

One video showed him approaching a woman and three teenage girls and offers to donate $100 to Planned Parenthood if any of his online viewers could identify them, a practice known as doxxing. A second video showed Sims berating a woman outside the same clinic for several minutes. During the clip, Sims also asked his online viewers if they knew where she lived so he could organize a protest outside her home.

Republican Party of Pennsylvania Chairman Val DiGiorgio described Sims’ behavior as “outrageous” while announcing the party had urged launching a criminal investigation against the lawmaker.

“Elected officials should not use their positions of power to harass citizens who are peacefully protesting. I hope our state and federal prosecutors will undertake review of this matter with the seriousness it deserves and uphold the role for which they were elected to, which demands holding people accountable for their actions,” DiGiorgio said in a statement.

An online petition demanding Sims resign over his “shameful harassment and bullying” has so far attracted more than 8,000 signatures.

According to new reports, US Attorney General William Barr is set to implement major overhauls on existing immigration policy, which will have a massive impact on courts’ ability to determine deportation for certain individuals.

The move comes following President Trump’s recent assertion that his administration will be moving in a “tougher direction” regarding immigration policy, as the growing crisis at the US-Mexico border continues to worsen.

Opponents of the Trump administration’s policies on immigration have denounced Barr’s plan, citing fears of “taking away due process” for those facing deportation.

President Trump and several officials within his administration have frequently lamented the lengthy process required in deportation and asylum hearings, pointing out that the current system is often abused, and in dire need of an overhaul.

Attorney General William Barr is making his first major moves on immigration policy since his confirmation, setting up big changes for the courts that decide whether immigrants will stay in the U.S. or be deported.

The Justice Department is on the verge of issuing rule changes that would make it easier for a handful of appellate immigration judges to declare their rulings binding on the entire immigration system, The Chronicle has learned. The changes could also expand the use of single-judge, cursory decisions at the appellate level — all at the same time as a hiring spree that could reshape the court.

The Trump administration bills the moves as efficiency measures to help fix a delay-plagued immigration court system, at a time it is being inundated by asylum seekers at the southern border. Asylum cases can take years to complete, even those that are relatively straightforward.

But advocates for immigrants and attorneys who work in the system fear the efficiency tools could be used to dramatically reshape immigration law to fit President Trump’s political goals.

Trump has repeatedly railed against the immigration court system and suggested doing away with it entirely.

“Congress has to … get rid of the whole asylum system because it doesn’t work,” Trump said this month. “And frankly, we should get rid of judges. You can’t have a court case every time somebody steps their foot on our ground.”

Former Attorney General Jeff Sessions frequently cited the immigration-case backlog as dire and made reducing it a central focus of his tenure, though it grew by more than 100,000 cases in that time to its current total of more than 800,000. Recently ousted Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen complained that migrants with weak asylum cases were clogging the system, slowing immigration judges from handling legitimate claims.

Last week, the Justice Department revived a proposed regulation originally initiated during the George W. Bush administration to allow the 21-judge appeals court system that hears immigration cases more latitude to issue cursory opinions without explanation. It would also allow the court to set precedents with only a small minority of appeals judges participating, which could sharply accelerate the administration’s ability to make changes to immigration law that wouldn’t require congressional action.

The proposed regulation has been sent to the White House for review before being made final, according to a government database. The Justice Department declined to comment other than to confirm that it hopes to finalize the rule this year.

The administration’s moves are raising concerns among groups representing immigration judges, attorneys and advocates, following a series of earlier moves that Sessions undertook to overhaul the courts.

“All of these pieces add up to taking away due process and speeding people through to their deportation in some sort of assembly line substitute for justice,” said Jeffrey Chase, a former immigration judge and former senior legal adviser to the immigration appeals court.

The immigration courts operate under the Justice Department and are separate from the U.S. federal court system. The attorney general hires the judges who hear immigrants’ cases and their appeals, and he serves as a one-man Supreme Court with the authority to overturn any decision.

The proposed Justice Department regulation change has two main parts. First, it would allow the immigration courts’ appellate arm, the Board of Immigration Appeals, to more easily issue “affirmances without opinion.” Those affirmances are when a single appeals judge, rather than a three-judge panel, upholds a lower court’s deportation decision without issuing an explanation.

The appeals board would be allowed to consider limited resources — such as a shortage of staff or a crush of cases — to issue such cursory affirmances, something it cannot do now.

Second, the regulation would change the way the appeals board can make its decisions public — the step that gives those decisions the force of binding precedent for all 400 immigration judges and the appeals court itself. In the past, those decisions have dictated what types of gang violence or domestic violence cases qualify for asylum, for example, or what constitutes a vulnerable population in need of protection.

Currently, the appeals board can declare a binding precedent only if a majority of all permanent sitting judges vote to do so. The regulation would do away with that requirement and allow a two-judge majority of any three-judge panel that decides a case to declare it a precedent. It would also give the attorney general that power — allowing him to set as precedent any three-judge panel’s decision he chooses.

At the moment, the appeals court has 15 permanent judges and six temporary fill-ins to decide those cases. The Justice Department has posted job listings to fill those six seats permanently, but would make two key changes from the current system: Appeals judges could serve simultaneously as lower-court immigration judges, and they would not have to relocate to the Board of Immigration Appeals in Falls Church, Va., a suburb of Washington, D.C.

The administration has not explained why previous job postings for these appellate openings have not resulted in hires or why they decided to make the changes to the job description.

The new listings would allow the department to recruit appeals judges without forcing them to move to the Washington area. Critics familiar with the inner workings of the Justice Department fear that officials will handpick appeals appellate judges from the ranks of lower-court judges with the highest deportation rates.

Reports on Thursday are claiming that President Trump is considering 2012 Presidential candidate Herman Cain to serve on the Federal Reserve board.

As reported by

President Donald Trump wants to nominate 2012 presidential candidate Herman Cain to a position on the Federal Reserve Board, two senior administration officials told Axios.

Thursday’s Axios report said Cain’s name has been in circulation since at least January when Bloomberg reported that Trump had Cain atop the list of candidates to fill one of two vacancies at the Fed. It was reported at that time Cain’s name was also a leading pick for other posts in the administration.

Cain, 73, has been a vocal supporter of Trump and co-founded the America Fighting Back pro-Trump super PAC in September. The super PAC’s website aims to “fight back” against the attack on America by those who wish to impeach Trump and his agenda.

Cain, has had a successful business career in the food industry, serving as longtime CEO and chairman of Godfather’s Pizza from 1986 until 2002 as well as CEO of the National Restaurant Association from 1996 to 1999.

Cain also served four years on the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City, ascending to the position as chairman in 1995 after serving as deputy chairman from 1992-1994. (RELATED: Trump Taps Conservative For Federal Reserve Board)

On financial matters, Cain has talked about returning the U.S. to the Gold Standard and has defended higher interest rates, saying in January, “I am not as afraid of inflation as I am of deflation,” he said. “You can stop inflation faster than you can decelerate in deflation mode.”

GOP Representative Markwayne Mullin of Oklahoma is under fire for telling a democratic colleague to shut up during a heated Obamacare debate.

As reported by

Rep. Markwayne Mullin (R-Okla.) drew backlash from some of his fellow committee members this week after telling a Democratic colleague to “shut up” during a heated discussion of the Affordable Care Act (ACA).

The heated exchange began after Mullin remarked at a meeting that employees at his plumbing company told him their coverage under the Obama-era health care law “sucks.”

Mullin called out New Mexico Rep. Ben Ray Luján (D) during a discussion of the health care law, asking what Luján has proposed to resolve bipartisan efforts to change the ACA.

Luján interrupted to ask whether Mullin would yield his time to allow him to answer the question. Mullin declined, saying Luján could “shut up now
