The nightly violence in Portland, Oregon, continues four months after it started as part of nationwide unrest following the death of George Floyd in police custody, but the media coverage seems to be dwindling.

Byron York of the Washington Examiner speculates that is because the average American who may be voting in next month’s election might have made the connection between cities like Portland, Seattle, Washington, Washington, D.C. and Democrat leadership:

Remember the riots? It wasn’t too long ago that the news was filled with reports of violent protests in Portland, Seattle, Washington DC, and other cities around the nation. And then…silence. Networks and newspapers are going wall-to-wall with analyses of every syllable uttered by President Trump’s doctors as he is treated for coronavirus. Of course that’s news, but in the meantime, other news — like a continuing plague of violence in those cities and elsewhere — has virtually disappeared from the coverage.

But it’s still there: A look at the Portland police twitter page from last night shows yet another march and confrontation with police. (Nobody bothers to keep count of the number of consecutive night there has been violence.) “The march has arrived at the new courthouse at 1200 SW 1st Ave.,” police tweeted between 10 p.m. and 11 p.m. local time Sunday. “Some participants have begun vandalizing the building. Do not do this. You are subject to arrest. To the van supporting the march: It is unsafe and illegal to drive the wrong way on a 1-way.” As the marchers continued, police warned, “Vandalism to the courthouse will not be tolerated. If you commit vandalism you are subject to arrest or use of force.”

Remember when Democratic leaders and their allies in the media blamed it all on Trump? But with the president in a hospital 2,800 miles away, and with Democrats and media talkers consumed by other stories, the protests have continued. At the courthouse, as the indefatigable street journalist Andy Ngo reported, the rioters began to vandalize a building that “cost taxpayers $324 million and took four years of construction time.” Six people were arrested.

The ABC affiliate in Portland, KATU 2, reported on one of the more violent attacks that took place on Sunday:

A 41-year-old is facing several charges, accused of breaking out the window of a Portland Police cruiser Sunday morning and spraying pepper spray inside the vehicle. John Russell is facing charges of assaulting a public safety officer, aggravated harassment, and first-degree criminal mischief.

According to police, an officer was doing paperwork inside of their marked patrol vehicle near South Corbett Avenue and Lane Street when about 9:40 a.m. someone walked up to the SUV, shattered the glass of the rear hatch, and pepper sprayed the interior. The suspect then ran to a nearby car and drove away. The officer managed to broadcast the suspect’s description and Russell was pulled over about six blocks away.

The officer recognized Russell’s vehicle as one that had been following him earlier, Portland Police said. When police searched the vehicle, they reportedly found a window punch tool, a laser pointer, a slingshot, rocks, and other items.

Chief of Police Chuck Lovell said:

As police officers, we know that the vast majority of community members who approach and contact us do so with no intention to do us harm. However, attacks like this one remind us all that there is the potential for people to try to take direct violent action against police officers. I applaud the officer for remaining calm and locating the involved subject and thank our investigators for furthering this investigation.

“Ngo also reported that Russell, like almost every other violent rioter in Portland, was quickly released, so he will surely be back at work soon,” York said in his report.

California Gov. Gavin Newsom has already released thousands of prisoners into communities across the state and now he is poised to release as many as 8,000 more by end of July, a move said to be necessary to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

This development, which the state announced on Friday, comes after the head of medical services for the state’s prison system was replaced following an inmate infection spike after more than 100 prisoners where transferred from the California Institution for Men in Chino from San Quentin.

“These actions are taken to provide for the health and safety of the incarcerated population and staff,” corrections Secretary Ralph Diaz said in a written statement. “We aim to implement these decompression measures in a way that aligns both public health and public safety.”

The Los Angeles Times reported on Newsom’s plan:

Initial prisoner releases would come from those with 180 days or less left to serve on their sentence. No one serving time for a crime defined in state law as violent or involving domestic violence would be set free, officials said. Those required to register as sex offenders or who are assessed as being a high risk for violence would also be ineligible for early release.

The second group of prisoners who could be released would have no more than one year left to serve. The releases are aimed at reducing the populations at eight state prisons identified as higher risk for coronavirus transmissions. The same eligibility rules as the first group of released prisoners would apply in these releases.

In all cases, prison officials said, priority will be given to those who are 30 or older. Prisoners under the age of 30 will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

“This is serious stuff and requires a seriousness of purpose,” Newsom said in the Times report. “People are just saying just release thousands and thousands of people.”

“Each and every one of these cases are sobering, challenging, and there’s a deep responsibility that comes with this job, but a sense of deep urgency as well to decompress the system in a judicious and thoughtful way,” Newsom said.

At least one official has expressed concern about the threat to public safety.

Vern Pierson, the D.A. in Northern California’s El Dorado County, called it “concerning” for public safety, and said the criteria being used to decide which inmates to release is unclear.

“The Newsom administration also has not made clear whether crime victims and prosecutors will be given notice when an inmate is released or if they will be able to file objections, said Pierson, who serves as president of the California District Attorneys Assn,” the Times reported.

“We don’t know what the actual impact of this is going to be. We do know that it’s a high likelihood there will be significant increases in crime,” said Pierson, who added that earlier releases of non-violent prisoners means that those still incarcerated represent the most serious offenders.

“It’s inescapable that it’s the most dangerous people that are the people that are left in prison,” Pierson said.

The San Francisco Chronicle reported that, as of Wednesday, an estimated 104,725 individuals are imprisoned in California’s 35 institutions. Nearly 20,000 inmates would need to be released just to reach 100 percent capacity in the system.

The family of George Floyd, the black man killed while in police custody in Minneapolis on Memorial Day, has sent a letter to the globalist United Nations to ask for its help in disarming police officers in the United States of America.

The family’s legal team facilitated the letter, which was sent on Wednesday, according to NBC News:

The group sent a letter on June 3 to one of the international body’s working groups asking for support for the end of the provision of military equipment and military-type training for police, the teaching of deescalation techniques, independent prosecutions and autopsies for “extrajudicial” police killings, and more.

“When a group of people of any nation have been systemically deprived of their universal human right to life by its government for decades, it must appeal to the international community for its support and to the United Nations for its intervention,” Floyd’s family attorney Ben Crump said in a press release.

The U.N. issued a statement on May 28, three days after Floyd’s death, and included the names of other black people in the U.S. who died in police custody. Michelle Bachelet, U.N. Commissioner on Human Rights, is quoted in the statement, which says, in part:

“This is the latest in a long line of killings of unarmed African Americans by U.S. police officers and members of the public,” Bachelet said. “I am dismayed to have to add George Floyd’s name to that of Breonna Taylor, Eric Garner, Michael Brown and many other unarmed African Americans who have died over the years at the hands of the police — as well as people such as Ahmaud Arbery and Trayvon Martin who were killed by armed members of the public.”

“The US authorities must take serious action to stop such killings, and to ensure justice is done when they do occur. Procedures must change, prevention systems must be put in place, and above all police officers who resort to excessive use of force should be charged and convicted for the crimes committed.”

“The role that entrenched and pervasive racial discrimination plays in such deaths must also be fully examined, properly recognized and dealt with,” she added.

While saying she understood the anger unleashed by Floyd’s killing, Bachelet urged people in Minneapolis and elsewhere to protest peacefully.

NBC did not report on whether or not the Floyd family or its legal counsel have heard back from the U.N.

The GOP War Room distributed a video on Tuesday of Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) promoting workers across the nation to take part in a “general strike” reminiscent of labor strikes in the past as some 30 million Americans are out of work.

“You know there’s a lot of people saying, you know, call for a general strike,” Ocasio-Cortez said in the video. “The majority of Americans don’t know what a general strike is.”

“And so our responsibility is to talk about it, expand consciousness about it, and to actually create the conditions in which working people can generate and really exercise their own power — the power they already have for themselves,” Ocasio-Cortez said.

According to the leftist website Vice, the current health crisis is an opportunity to put leftwing agendas in place:

Coronavirus is bringing a strike wave to America, if it hasn’t already, and there is the feeling that it is snowballing into something more, which the U.S. hasn’t seen for 75 years: a general strike that encompasses everyone, not just workers at one company or industry. As Instacart strike organizer Vanessa Bain told us: “Bosses and CEOs across sectors and industries have failed to act, so workers are taking matters into their own hands. The time for a general strike is now.”

“The concept of a general strike emerged from early-20th-century leftist thought,” the Vox owned The Cut reported. “In 1906, Rosa Luxembourg wrote in The Mass Strike, her seminal text on the subject, ‘It is absurd to think of the mass strike as one act, one isolated action. The mass strike is rather the indication, the rallying idea, of a whole period of the class struggle lasting for years, perhaps for decades.’ The general strike can take different forms. It might be one large action — like Seattle’s weeklong general strike of 1919 — or it might be a series of continuous actions, like France’s recent nationwide strikes over the government’s plan to reform the country’s pension fund system.”

Congress is considering its next move to help the United States economy and the American people recover from the coronavirus outbreak and Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) and Rep. Ro Khanna (D-CA) said on Monday they want legislation to include free health care, higher pay, child care, and “whistle blower protection” for any worker deemed essential.

The two lawmakers said they are asking Congress to include “ten pro-worker policies” — i.e. union empowerment — in the relief package, according to website:

The Essential Workers Bill of Rights calls for free personal protective equipment, up to 14 paid sick days and access to child care for all essential workers, according to a press release from the lawmakers. Previous coronavirus relief legislation guaranteed only some workers paid sick leave, exempting all companies with more than 500 workers from the mandate.

The policy goals also include mandates forbidding companies from tampering with collective bargaining agreements during the pandemic, cracking down on worker misclassification and offering Americans paid family and medical leave.

Warren and Khanna want companies to guarantee they won’t fire workers for reporting unsafe conditions on the job related to the pandemic, according to the policy goals.

“Congress must pass Sen. Patty Murray’s Paid Leave Act, which provides 14 days of paid sick leave and 12 weeks of paid family and medical leave, so essential workers can care for themselves, family members or dependents,” Warren and Khanna said in a statement issued on Monday.

The Paid Leave Act, which is co-sponsored by additional lawmakers including Bernie Sanders (I-VT) Chuck Schumer (D-NY), and Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY) was introduced in the Senate on March 17.

The website report said:

Notably, the Essential Workers Bill of Rights includes a call for hazard pay, although it stops short of using those words. Instead, Warren and Khanna say Americans classified as ‘essential workers’ must ‘be paid robust premium pay to recognize the critical contribution they are making to our health and our economy.’

That “premium pay” should “provide meaningful compensation for essential work, be higher for the lowest-wage workers and not count towards workers’ eligibility for any means-tested programs,” Warren and Khanna said.

The lawmakers have not said how “premium pay” would be determined or how it would be paid for but said, nonetheless, it should be retroactive “to the start date of the pandemic.”

The bill these Democrats want also would “treat workers as experts” by using their input for safety and compensation requirements in any legislation considered.

“The government could seek that input by involving unions and other organizations that advocate for workers’ rights in policy discussions and in the White House Coronavirus Task Force, Warren and Khanna” said in the website report.

Congress in set to reopen on April 20 but a final decision has not been announced.

In the 24 hours since a man attacked a Hanukkah celebration in Monsey, New York, the left is blaming Donald Trump for inciting the kind of antisemitism that led to the crime. Grafton Thomas was arrested for stabbing five people and has been charged with multiple counts of attempted murder, but some are targeting Trump.

The Washington Post on Sunday cited Trump’s critics in its report on the stabbings:

“Some House Democrats singled out the president for criticism, arguing that he has been insufficiently clear in denouncing anti-Semitism and has frequently perpetuated offensive stereotypes about Jewish people.

Earlier this month, Trump prompted an outcry from Jewish groups after he delivered a speech in which he sought to convince a Jewish audience that they had “no choice” but to vote for him or else they would lose money to Democratic presidential contenders’ wealth tax plans. He also said some Jews “don’t love Israel enough,” echoing a previous statement in which he questioned the loyalty of Jews who vote for Democrats.

The article named one Democrat who blamed Trump directly: Rep. Steve Cohen (D-TN), another frequent critic of Trump, shared a tweet by a New York-based comedian who argued that the Monsey attack followed “3 years of anti-semitism from the Trump Administration.”

“So sad but predictable. His conduct has made unacceptable conduct acceptable,” Cohen said, appearing to blame Trump in part for the recent rise in attacks against Jewish people and members of other minority groups across the country. “It will take decades to cure.”

Washington Post correspondent and reporter for other leftwing media Mairav Zonszein said she held the White House “directly responsible” for the rise of antisemitism:

“Just to be clear, I hold the Trump White House directly responsible for the increasing violent attacks on Orthodox Jewish people in America. It should be clear now that exceptionalizing Jews — whether in a negative or positive light — endangers us and keeps us forever at risk,” Zonszein tweeted.

“I’m being personally attacked and insulted in what appears to be a coordinated fashion – for holding a president who has empowered white nationalists and normalized antisemitism. I feel threatened and scared as a Jew for the first time in my life,” Zonszein tweeted.

Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) blamed Trump and Rudy Giuliani on Twitter, linking to an op-ed he wrote in the Jewish publication Forward, including the false claim that Trump has not condemned extremism.

“Anti-Semitism is on the rise in America. And it’s being stoked by @realDonaldTrump who won’t condemn it and Trump’s lawyer, @RudyGiuliani, who just this week said he’s “more Jewish than Soros.” ICYMI, my @jdforward op-ed on what we must do,” Swalwell tweeted.

“This isn’t happening in a vacuum,” Swalwell wrote in the op-ed. “It’s happening as President Donald Trump and his allies dabble in hate-baiting propaganda. From refusing to unconditionally condemn the 2017 neo-Nazi rally in Charlottesville to accusing American Jewish Democrats of disloyalty, President Trump has tacitly or explicitly empowered extremism in ways not seen in generations.”

Arizona Democrat Nathan Schneider, who describes himself on Twitter as a “universal health care advocate, public education proponent, organizer, campaign manager/regional field director, and former House candidate” blamed Trump for the violence:

“Trump is directly to blame for this antisemitic violence and if we don’t take drastic steps to address this threat the attacks will become worse and more frequent. #Monsey,” Schneider tweeted.

The Times of Israel cited a Jewish lawmaker who blamed Trump:

Ofer Cassif, the only Jewish lawmaker representing the predominantly Arab Joint List in the Knesset, reacts to the Monsey stabbing by blaming it on US President Donald Trump.

“Hatred of human beings is infectious: Where Trump incites against Muslims and immigrants, anti-Semitic movements will thrive and Jews will be attacked,” he tweets.

“My condolences to the community and wishing recovery to the wounded, and hoping that the world manages to overcome a tsunami of racist hatred.”

The Jerusalem Post predicted this animus against Trump will play a role in the 2020 presidential election:

Those opposed to Trump will surely try to drop the antisemitism squarely at his feet. They will focus on the Jew hatred coming from the white supremacists, the neo-Nazis, the far Right, and say that Trump – with his divisive rhetoric, his use of what they say are antisemitic tropes, and his anti-immigrant policies and actions – has given them a back wind.

They will ignore all Trumps’ statements against antisemitism, all he has done for Israel, his recent signing of an executive order to combat antisemitism on campus, and the fact that he has a Jewish daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren. They will ignore all of that and say the antisemitism is his fault.

U.S. Ambassador to the European Union Gordon Sondland told the House Intelligence Committee impeachment hearing on Wednesday that President Donald Trump never told him directly that military aid to the Ukraine was contingent on the announcement of corruption investigations.

“President Trump never told me directly that the aid was conditioned on meetings,” Sondland said when answering questions from Daniel Goldman, the Democrat counsel and director of investigations for the committee.

“The aid was my own personal guess,” said Sondland.

Sondland also said Trump never mentioned an investigation about investigations being required for Ukraine to receive aid from the United States.

“I never heard from President Trump that aid was conditioned on an announcement of elections,” Sondland said.

Black Lives Matter and other anti-Trump groups held a rally on the grounds of the Capitol on Tuesday to call for President Donald Trump to be censured for what he said about Rep. Ilhan Omar’s (D-MN) controversial statement that “somebody did something” on 9-11.

People chanted ‘“Hands off Ilhan” and in a series of speeches blamed the president and Republicans for the rise of “white supremacy masked as white nationalism.”

Omar spoke at the event in praise of her homeland of Somalia and said the president and his Party are responsible for recent attacks on synagogues and mosques.

“At this moment, the occupant of the White House and his allies are doing everything that they can to distance themselves and misinform the public from the monsters that they created that is [sic] terrorizing the Jewish community and the Muslim community,” Omar said.

Omar said she is criticized because she is a Muslim woman.

“I also happen to be a refugee and immigrant from what they call one of the shithole countries,” Omar said, mocking the president for his alleged comments about war-torn countries like Somalia that drive their people out.

“The reality is that shithole country raised a very proud, dignified person,” Omar said. “Our circumstances may not always be perfect but that doesn’t lessen our humanity and I am not in the business of defending mine.”

Omar was not as complimentary of the United States.

“This is not going to be the country of the xenophobics,” Omar said. “This is not going to be the country of white people.”

“This is not going to be the country of the few,” Omar said. “This is the country of the many.”

“This is the country that was founded on the history of Native American genocide, on the backs of black slaves but also by immigrants,” Omar said.

According to her website: “Ilhan and her family fled the country’s civil war when she was eight-years-old. They lived in a refugee camp in Kenya for four years before coming to the United States, eventually settling in the Cedar-Riverside neighborhood of Minneapolis in 1997.”

The Senate voted down on Tuesday S.J. Res. 8, the Green New Deal Resolution, 0-57, with all Republicans, three Democrats, and one Independent voting against it.

Forty-three Democrats voted “present” and three Democrats — Sens. Joe Manchin (D-WV), Kyrsten Sinema (D-AZ), and Doug Jones (D-AL) — voted against the resolution. Sen. Angus King (I-ME) also voted with Republicans against the measure.

Many Democrats — including Sen. Ed Markey (D-MA), who sponsored the resolution in the Senate — called the vote a “sham” because Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) called for it without scheduling any hearings.

“[Climate change] is the national security, economic, health care and moral issue of our time,” Markey said at a press conference at the Capitol ahead of the vote. “We must act now.”

“Republicans and President Trump may choose to be in denial about the consequences of climate change,” Markey said. “But to ordinary people, climate change is not politics. It is life and death.”

“It is not a resolution,” Markey said. “It is a revolution.”

But even if Democrats voted “present,” McConnell said Tuesday’s vote put them on the record in favor of the radical resolution, which calls for the transformation of the American economy and infrastructure, including ending air travel and retrofitting every building in America.

“I ask again if you believe the Green New Deal is the prescription for America, why would you not want to have a vote?” McConnell told reporters ahead of the vote.

Presidential hopeful Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY) was also at the press conference with Markey and climate change activists.

“We don’t know if we can get to net-zero carbon emissions in 10 years, but why not try?” Gillibrand said.

The Green New Deal was introduced last month in the House by Democratic Socialist Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY).

Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) announced on Tuesday that the House Intelligence Committee he chairs has hired Daniel Goldman to be a senior adviser and lead the committee’s investigative operations as it continues its probe into the President Donald Trump campaign’s alleged collusion with Russia.

Goldman, who frequently appears as a legal analyst on NBC and MSNBC, worked as Assistant United States Attorney in the Criminal Division of the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York from 2007 and 2017, according to his bio on the Brennan Center for Justice, a George Soros-funded organization that recently named him a fellow in one of its programs.

The Washington Examiner reported:

Goldman’s track-record on Russian crimes is extensive. While in the Manhattan U.S. attorney’s office, Goldman was the deputy chief of the office’s organized crime division, successfully prosecuting over 30 cases. He oversaw cases a slew of cases with Russian defendants, ranging from racketeering and money laundering to securities fraud and insurance fraud. He also oversaw the conviction for [the] murder of members of the Genovese family inner-circle.

In his role as a television legal analyst, Goldman has concluded Trump broke the law and conspired to hide it in order to win the 2016 presidential election.

In December of 2018, in an appearance on MSNBC, Chuck Todd asked Goldman about the reports that Trump was in the room when discussions about hush money payments were arranged for women who accused him of having an affair with them.

“Does this news that Trump was in the room make it easier to say the president also committed a felony?” Todd asked Goldman.

“Absolutely, Chuck, for two reasons,” Goldman said. “One is yesterday when the AMI (American Media Inc.) cooperation agreement was announced there was nothing in it that directly tied the president to AMI’s involvement in paying off Karen McDougal.”

“But now with this revelation that Trump was in the room with David Pecker and Michael Cohen as early as August 2015 — not 16 — but 15 … now we know that there were communications between Pecker and Trump-related to what is really a scheme — it’s a full-on conspiracy to cover up any illicit affairs that Donald Trump may have had that might have influenced the election.”

“So in two different way this makes things a lot worse for Trump,” Goldman said. “One, AMI just points the finger at Trump and Trump is now connected to the Karen McDougal payment in addition to Michael Cohen connecting him to the Stormy Daniels payment.”

“And two, it shows that this was a long-running plan … a long-running scheme, long before the Access Hollywood tape, well before the Michael Cohen and Donald Trump recording in October 2016, long before the Stormy Daniels payment.”

Mediate reported on another Goldman appearance on MSNBC’s Morning Joe, where he said he was confident Trump had broken the law to get elected:

When Joe Scarborough asked him if Trump can withstand the legal firestorm swirling around him, Goldman answered: “We already now know that the president has committed a felony in order to obtain the office of the presidency.

Trump tweeted about the sweeping investigations House Democrats have launched since regaining control of the chamber in the midterm election.
