White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany ripped Politico reporter Ryan Lizza Monday, after Lizza asked if President Donald Trump was happy with the outcome of the Civil War.

“Does President Trump believe that it was a good thing that the south lost the Civil War?” Lizza asked during a White House press briefing.

McEnany responded by calling Lizza’s question “absolutely absurd,” saying the president was proud of the U.S.

“Your first question is absolutely absurd,” McEnany said. “He’s proud of the United States of America.”

Lizza also asked if the president would ban Confederate flags from his campaign rallies, citing NASCAR’s recent decision to ban the flag from its events. McEnany said that was a question for the campaign, but reiterated the administration’s opposition to tearing down statues of historical figures.

“Americans oppose tearing down our statues,” McEnany added, citing recent polling. “[The president] stands on the side of preserving our history.”

The president has pushed back against calls to remove honors for confederate figures, announcing his opposition earlier in June to a proposal that would rename 10 American military bases named after Confederate generals.

“It has been suggested that we should rename as many as 10 of our Legendary Military Bases, such as Fort Bragg in North Carolina, Fort Hood in Texas, Fort Benning in Georgia, etc. These Monumental and very Powerful Bases have become part of a Great American Heritage, and a history of Winning, Victory, and Freedom,” Trump tweeted at the time.

A recent poll conducted by ABC-Ipsos found that 56% of Americans oppose renaming the bases, while 42% support renaming the bases.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi ripped President Donald Trump over his support for anti-lockdown protesters.

Pelosi accused the president of “cheering people” who bring guns and swastikas to anti-lockdown protests during a Wednesday appearance on MSNBC.

“When the science tells us that we can do something differently or to be socially distant, wearing your mask, doing things in a way that is appropriate, but not cheering people on, going with guns and swastikas to the legislature in Michigan and saying these are really good people,” Pelosi said.

Pelosi was referring to protests in Michigan last week where armed anti-lockdown protesters stormed the state capitol to oppose Democratic Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s strict stay at home order. Trump urged Whitmer to “make a deal” with the protesters, calling them “very good people.”

Pelosi urged members of Trump’s White House task force to discourage him from supporting anti-lockdown protesters.

“What I don’t understand about someone associated with the task force is how the — the concern that that happened and it’s dangerous and these people can take this home with them and hurt their families and all of the rest, but they never say to the president, ‘don’t — don’t look fondly on that,’” Pelosi said. “That’s not supposed to happen.”

Protests and incidents of civil disobedience have escalated throughout the country as the coronavirus curve flattens, and Americans demand stay at home orders be lifted. Some states have begun the process of reopening as tens of millions of Americans are forced out of work over the pandemic. The most recent jobs report released Wednesday found that more than 20 million jobs were lost last month as the U.S. attempted to stop the spread of the virus.

Former President Barack Obama officially endorsed former Vice President Joe Biden in his bid for the presidency.

The former president released a roughly 12-minute video explaining the endorsement. He also harshly criticized his successor, President Donald Trump. (RELATED: Obama Compares Climate Change To Coronavirus To Coronavirus, Rips Trump Rule Change)

“Choosing Joe to be my vice president was one of the best decisions I ever made, and he became a close friend, and I believe Joe has all the qualities we need as a president right now,” Obama said.

Obama criticized powerful Republicans in Washington, D.C, and said Democrats will need to be “bold” in order to retake power.

“One thing everybody has learned by now is that the Republicans occupying the White House and running the U.S. Senate are not interested in progress, they’re interested in power,” Obama said. “They’ve given polluters unlimited power to poison our air and our water, and denied the science of climate change, just as they denied the science of pandemics.”

“They’ve disregarded American principles on rule of law and voting rights, and transparency,” Obama said. “Basic norms that previous administrations observed regardless of party.”

Biden took to Twitter to thank his former boss, and said Obama’s endorsement “means the world” to him.

“We’re going to build on the progress we made together, and there’s no one I’d rather have standing by my side,” Biden said.

Former Republican Texas Rep. Ron Paul called for President Donald Trump to fire his top coronavirus adviser, Dr. Anthony Fauci.

The two-time Republican presidential candidate said on his show Thursday that if Trump doesn’t fire Fauci, “the people have to fire him” instead.

“He should be fired, but if you don’t do it in the literal sense, the people have to fire him,” Paul said. “They have to fire him by saying ‘he’s a fraud.’”

Paul accused Fauci of wanting “total control” over the American people. (RELATED: People Are Starting To Question The Accuracy Of The White House’s Coronavirus Story)

“The plan that they have is when things are getting back to normal, people can return to their work, and they do things, and go to the golf course if they get a stamp of approval,” Paul said. “Your liberties are there if you get a proper stamp from the government.”

“It’s an excuse to have total control over the people,” Paul continued.

Paul, who is a doctor, previously called the coronavirus “a big hoax” that the government is using to take away people’s rights.

“People should ask themselves whether this coronavirus ‘pandemic’ could be a big hoax, with the actual danger of the disease massively exaggerated by those who seek to profit — financially or politically — from the ensuing panic,” Paul wrote last month.

Paul’s less recent comments came under further scrutiny after his son Rand, a Republican from Kentucky, became the first, and so far only, member of the U.S. Senate to test positive for the virus.

Democratic California Rep. Adam Schiff said Wednesday that he is “working on” legislation that would create a commission reviewing the U.S. government’s handling of the coronavirus pandemic.

The House Intelligence Committee chairman said the commission would model the U.S. response to 9/11 and Pearl Harbor.

“After Pearl Harbor and 9/11, we looked at what went wrong to learn from our mistakes,” Schiff said. “Once we’ve recovered, we need a nonpartisan commission to review our response and how we can better prepare for the next pandemic. I’m working on a bill to do that.”

Despite Schiff’s promise that such a commission would be “nonpartisan,” Republicans have already begun to express concern that Schiff could use the committee to harangue the Trump administration.

“Make no mistake about Adam Schiff’s real intentions behind launching an investigation into coronavirus: a guise for him to lead another bogus impeachment,” Republican National Committee rapid response director Steve Guest said in a press release. “Schiff has no ground to stand on. When coronavirus arrived in America, what was Adam Schiff focused on? Wasting time with a bogus impeachment.”

Schiff has emerged as one of the president’s biggest adversaries since he took office, and served as the lead impeachment manager, during Trump’s impeachment trial earlier this year. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has also criticized Democrats for focusing on impeachment when the virus was beginning to spread.

“It came up while we were tied down in the impeachment trial. And I think it diverted the attention of the government because everything every day was all about impeachment,” McConnell said Monday.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has criticized President Donald Trump for a lack of preparedness of his administration’s response to the coronavirus pandemic, but last month the speaker was urging people to patron San Francisco’s Chinatown.

Pelosi took a tour through Chinatown on February 24, where she decried alleged racism that was occurring against Asian Americans as a result of the virus, which originated in the Chinese province of Wuhan.

“It’s exciting to be here, especially at this time to be able to be unified with our community,” Pelosi said at the time. “We want to be vigilant about what is out there in other places. We want to be careful about how we deal with it, but we do want to say to people ‘Come to Chinatown. Here we are, careful, safe and come join us.’”

Pelosi said Sunday that the president was in “denial at the beginning,” accusing him of not originally taking the virus serious enough. Pelosi’s home state of California is one of nearly 30 states in the U.S. currently under lockdown over the pandemic.

Other Democrats have criticized Trump for not responding to the pandemic quickly enough, including Democratic New York Mayor Bill de Blasio, who’s city has been devastated by the outbreak. However, de Blasio and New York City Health Commissioner Oxiris Barbot repeatedly urged citizens to go about their normal lives, as recently as a couple of weeks ago.

A second staffer to Independent Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders was caught on camera advocating for violence against Sanders’ political opponents, according to a video released Tuesday by the conservative watchdog group Project Veritas.

“What will help is when we send all the Republicans to the ‘reeducation’ camps,” a Sanders field organizer identified by Project Veritas as Martin Weissgerber said. “Can you imagine Mitch McConnell? Lindsey Graham?””

“I’ll straight up- I’ll straight up get armed,” Weissgerber said, according to the video. “I want to learn how to shoot, and go train. I’m ready for the f**king revolution, bro.”

This same organization released a video earlier in January appearing to show another Sanders’ staffer saying that “f**king cities burn” if President Donald Trump is reelected.

Weissgerber’s comments were in line with the comments apparently made by fellow Sanders field organizer Kyle Jurek in the Project Veritas video released last week, where Jurek called for reeducation camps for Trump supporters.

“The Gulags were founded as reeducation camps,” Weissgerber continued. “The first gulag that was opened; have you heard about Belomorkanal?”

Trump Victory, the combined field efforts between President Donald Trump’s 2020 presidential campaign, and the Republican National Committee (RNC) announced a major milestone Monday.

The Trump victory team knocked on its one millionth door Saturday in the crucial swing state of New Hampshire, the committee announced.

“We are proud of the money we have raised, and even prouder of the infrastructure that that money has enabled us to build. Our permanent, data-driven ground game is unmatched and will be the key to our success this November,” RNC Chair Ronna McDaniel told the Daily Caller.

Even as House Democrats have spent the past year moving to impeach the president, the Trump campaign and the RNC have continued to pull in record fundraising hauls.

Most recently, the joint committee between the Trump campaign and the RNC raked in $154 million in the fourth quarter of 2019, and reported roughly $195 million cash on hand headed into the 2020 election year.

“Our millionth door knocked marks a major milestone in our path toward victory as our grassroots army continues to spread the message of President Trump and Republicans’ winning agenda,” McDaniel said.

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton blamed “flashing videos” on the “dark web” for her 2016 presidential election loss last Friday during a radio interview.

Clinton said on Campaign HQ’s podcast that she anticipates President Donald Trump will employ a similar strategy to win re-election next November.

“I think it’s going to be the same as 2016,” Clinton said. “I’m going to show you in these flashing videos that appear and then disappear and they’re on the dark web and nobody can find them, but you’re going to see them and you’re going to see that person doing these horrible things.”

Clinton’s appearance on the podcast made waves last week after she accused long-shot Democratic presidential candidate Tulsi Gabbard of being groomed by the Russians for a third party run.

Gabbard responded by lambasting her party’s 2016 nominee over her past foreign policy failures, calling Clinton “the queen of warmongers.”

Clinton has repeatedly blamed Russian interference and internet trolls for her loss to Trump four years ago.

Democratic California Sen. Kamala Harris re-iterated her support for a mandatory gun buyback program Wednesday, saying a government under her leadership may confiscate “as many as 10 million” guns.

The 2020 presidential candidate was asked by MSNBC host Craig Melvin how she would get existing “assault weapons” off the streets, noting that the 1994 Assault Weapons Ban did not include a confiscation program.

“We have to have a buyback program,” Harris said. “I support a mandatory buyback program. It’s gotta be smart. We gotta do it the right way.”

Harris estimated that there are currently 5-10 million “assault weapons” in the U.S., but did not mention any specific type of firearm her administration would target.

“There are five million at least, some estimate as many as 10 million,” Harris said. “We’re gonna have to have smart public policy that’s about taking those off the streets, but doing it in the right way.”

Harris is one of several Democratic presidential candidates to have endorsed a gun confiscation program. The freshman California senator told NBC’s Jimmy Fallon last month that she supported a “buy-back” program in order to get “weapons of war” off the streets.

“First of all, let’s be clear about what assault weapons are they have been designed to kill a lot of human beings quickly,” she said at the time. “They are weapons of war with no place on the streets of a civil society.”
